This is very valuable information. When I game it's in LONG sessions, so having to keep going for a while before I can save again isn't an issue for me. If the game was throwing out cheap deaths left and right I could see the visiphone as being essential, but here it just sounds like the issue is not having enough time to play.prfsnl_gmr wrote:If you are going to play later sections of the game without the visiphone, you are a stronger man than me...I found it to be absolutely essential. (Not because I kept dying - my party was very rarely wiped out - but because it took forever to navigate between save points.)

Fair enough.
I usually play in 30 minute spurts.
I would hate to get owned by the final boss or something and then get sent back to a "regular" save point though.

I don't know...As I am sure you have noticed, the characters move like they are stuck in molasses, and there is a random encounter every three steps...Moreover, the game can hand out the occassional cheap death; so, having the visiphone might save you a lot of frustration.MrPopo wrote:This is very valuable information. In Climate Control now. Damn does this game love to obstruct the player's field of view.

I was about to ask if you're even going to work anymore, then I remembered you're a teacher, so you don'tBoneSnapDeez wrote:In Climate Control now. Damn does this game love to obstruct the player's field of view.

I resigned. I'm a stay-at-home father.
Which actually means I "work" more hours than I used to.

Those Mancover (Mancabra?) purple cloud bitches in the tower are INFURIATING! I had to go through that entire place four times because I kept running into them on the top floor, and their main attack is complete and utter BS. I hate it when a game makes the run command practically useless for situations where you would actually want/need to run. Make it 45% if you don't want me to abuse it, developers. Wasting my damn time! Rant::off.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Moreover, the game can hand out the occassional cheap death; so, having the visiphone might save you a lot of frustration.
I left off last after getting Ann (the doctor) and getting to the next town. (Forgot the name.) I think my levels were 9/8/17/3 (main character/Rudger/Nei/Ann) and I spent a little time upgrading some equipment.
That bridge scene was a bit shocking. I had heard tell of something like that happening in this game, but it played out a bit differently than I was anticipating, and it actually made me jump a couple times. I ended up watching it twice. Very interesting, and surprisingly graphic. Certainly not something many console RPGs were courageous enough to do at the time. I guess FFII kind of did something similar, but no one really cares about that game. Crazy stuff. If I had ever played this back in the day, I probably would have lost my mind.

Started to work on the Tower of Nido this evening, only for it to be cut short. Instead of going right for the main goal, I was checking out my maps to to a quick treasure run, and then got involved into a fight with a couple of Blasters. Two shots later, Rolf and Nei are done for, leaving Rudo to run back to Arima all alone.
