And it's a terrible one, at that. If a console gives you headache after playing, and give you tracers in your vision for several minutes afterwards, it's a failure. Not to mention it's miniscule game library.
Worst consoles of all time.

Re: Worst consoles of all time.
What makes a console bad......
- Faulty/unreliable hardware
- Poor controller design
- Lack of a solid game library
Under this criteria (and ignoring Chinese knock-off crap), the worst consoles would have to include stuff like the Apple Bandai Pippin and Casio Loopy. But then again, I find both of those consoles interesting enough (from a historical standpoint) to want to own both.
Also, the 3DO is bad?! Hell no it isn't.

And you call yourself a gamer? I'm sorry, but you just lost all credibility. Unless you're just trolling for the lulz. Are you?BurningDoom wrote:3. 4. Atari 2600 - I know, many gamers are gonna call blasphemy on me since this is the console that really launched the modern-day console industry and many, many genres of games were created on it. But I just find a good majority of it's game library to be too simplistic. And the sound on it is just cringe-worthy bad. Some of the sounds that come out that machine are ungodly. Plus I'm not a big fan of joysticks, especially Atari 2600's stiff-as-a-board joystick.
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

Re: Worst consoles of all time.
For me a lot of the worst consoles ever were the early CD systems. They were unreliable, horrible loading times and horrible compressed video. Systems like the Jaguar CD, Neo Geo CD and the Sega CD have a place there for me. I love my Sega CD for nostalgia.
Also if you want to talk about one of the most unreliable systems of all time MAY have to go to the Xbox 360 (at least through the majority of its life). They did address it, but man, what a pain that system was to keep working.

In my experience Sega CD is a lot more reliable than its given credit for, especially given its age.
It's also got a much better library than most give it credit for too. If anything I'd say it's underrated.

Model 1 SCDs are definitely an unreliable pain in the ass.

yup. But like any CD console, a flip top is gonna be more reliable than a motorized front-loader.brunoafh wrote:Model 1 SCDs are definitely an unreliable pain in the ass.

Too early to add Xbox One to this list?

I really enjoy the Jaguar. I don't own any post-acquisition Atari titles (homebrews or late titles such as Worms or Towers II) but even in its main life, plenty of great games. My favorites in order:
Super Burnout - the game I show to ppl who claim the Jag is on par with the 32X. Game runs butter smooth. Amazing.
Power Drive Rally - simple but VERY fun
Doom - very nice console port (no music, blah, blah... I'd rather that & a nice framerate)
Ultra Vortek - underrated only bc it's a mortal kombat clone
NBA Jam - near arcade perfect
Wolfenstein 3D - based on Apple version, full screen, very crisp graphics, uncensored. Carmack himself praised this port in a YouTube interview two yrs ago.
Raiden- fun SHUMP, 2 PLAYER!
AvP- ground breaking for the time but doesn't hold up great IMO

Not at all. Especially the Intellivision. My dad had one when I was a kid and I hated the damn thing. That controller, and the stupid cards that went above the remote-controller part were just terrible to use.Retrodude wrote:And you call yourself a gamer? I'm sorry, but you just lost all credibility. And I do own an Atari 2600, but most of the games can only keep my interest for a few minutes at a time. Luckily using a Sega Genesis controller fixes the crappy joystick problem.
