Getting into hand-held gaming (DS & 3DS) has helped me focus lately. Much easier to sink in time & get involved from any room in the house & the ability to quickly put the game to sleep.

I was skeptical of this after hearing some other racket members say the same. For a while I thought I had lost all interest in hand-held gaming and could focus on games since it was "always being set down".

Boy was I wrong... Along with the system always being put down, I seem to be always picking it right back up again. Right now I rarely have time to sit down and play my home consoles, but always have my Game Boy/DS/PSP in my pocket ready to go. I'd have to say more than 70% of my current gaming is being done on a hand-held system.

Same for me - I usually find handheld games more engaging than console ones, even if I have time to sit down for two hours. It's probably because those games are designed to be fun every single moment of gameplay.

So, if there's nothing you really want to play, don't play anything. Do something else instead. You'll eventually want something specific.

Looking at your avatar always reminds me that I need to actually sit down and beat Valkyrie Profile (the first one on PS1)...I played through a big chunk of it a few summers ago and absolutely loved the art style and characters (especially Lenneth, she's so cool!) Maybe I'll sit down and play through it again after my Summer Challenge games are completed :)

It's funny, this had honestly never occurred to me. And it's not like I don't have other hobbies, I just always feel the need to be playing a game at any given time. You're right though, I have other stuff I could do instead, so maybe the next time I run into a gaming drought, I'll just let it pass until a particular game really sparks my interest. Thanks for the advice.
