Started casually collecting some import Saturn titles. Going after imports primarily since they're generally much cheaper than the U.S. versions and the cases look pretty sweet.
So far I have Fighters Megamix, Wachenroder, Deep Fear, and Guardian Heroes is on the way.
The first three were around $10 sealed, whereas Guardian Heroes cost me close to $30 used, but I think it was worth it.
Recommendations for any other relatively cheap import games I should look for?

Re: Cheap Saturn imports
Most of the stuff that I've gotten for cheap are pretty standard fair for the Saturn. Games like the first Panzer Dragoon, Cyber Troopers Virtual On, Fighting Vipers, etc.
I'm surprised / disappointed by the level of price gouging going on at eBay right now for some imports. I've seen stuff like Golden Axe the Duel and Gokujyo Parodius Da listed there for for over $30 quite regularly, and I only payed around $7 each for those in the shops while in Japan. It's ridiculous. >:-(

Sonic Jam is a lot cheaper as a Japanese or European import. It's like $15-$20 compared to like $40, and since it's just Genesis Sonic games you should have no issue with the language barrier.

Yeah, no kidding. It's like this throughout imports on Ebay, really. Next time you want a real shock look up Thunder Force Gold Pack 2, Cotton 2 or Silhouette Mirage. Hell, check Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop 1/2, Daytona USA / CCE, Sega Rally, etc 1-300 yen games.MrNash wrote:I'm surprised / disappointed by the level of price gouging going on at eBay right now for some imports. US copies of Clockwork Knight 2 can get pricey. I imported it for $7ish.
House of the Dead import also.

Bought Virtual On yesterday for $1 with $7 shipping so that's not too bad.
I'll be sure to get the Panzer Dragoon games as well.

Re: Cheap Saturn imports
If you're at all interested in Saturn Bomberman, importing is the way to go. If you don't mind following a walkthrough for the western release, Shining Force III episode 1, Albert Odyssey, Rayearth, and Dragon Force are all extremely cheap. Heck, just about every first-party published game should cost you peanuts.
In terms of Japanese Saturn games, you're probably not going to run into any real expense if you're not looking at a few fighting games, beat-em-ups, shooters, and obscure platformers or RPGs. If you're into fighting games and shooters, then you'll want to be on the look out for: Fatal Fury 3, Real Bout Fatal Fury, Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, Vampire Hunter, Vampire Savior, Street Fighter Collection, Street Fighter Zero, Street Fighter Zero 2, Samurai Spirits 3 and 4, KoF '97, X-men CotA, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel vs SF (none of these should really cost you much more than $10 without Ram Cart bundles) Layer Section, Darius Gaiden, Detana Twinbee Yahoo, Gunbird (all fairly inexpensive).

Re: Cheap Saturn imports
I hear great things about Saturn Bomberman so I'll be sure to get that one eventually. Shining Force III is intriguing becuase there is the whole fan translation project going on where they're in the process of translating all three scenarios.pierrot wrote:If you're at all interested in Saturn Bomberman, importing is the way to go. Not too huge on shmups and fighters anyway, but I'll buy a couple cheap ones I guess.

There are a few SS JPN Bombermans IIRC. Which one is identical to the US release? I always forget.
