Power Base Converter likely won't work. The PBC
was essentially a pin adapter. The Genesis had the inner hardware to support SMS games. Doubt this does or they would've marketed for it.

I wonder if you have to use their controller for GBA games? Would be cool using a Genesis or SNES controller on them.

This was posted earlier in this thread as a reply to my concern with the default controller. According to the blog post, there are 3 controller ports on either side with a total of 6 ports. It claims that any controller can be used on any system. So this should also be true for the GBA games.

A SuperNES controller is ideal for GBA games.

Can't wait for the RetroN 5! Last I heard it will be here in July. Not as good as the original consoles, but it will save me space and make things a bit more manageable.

Thanks Jinx. Great article. The ability to chose between HDMI 16:9 720p or 4:3 480i via composite is a huge plus for me. LCD in my living room & SD CRT in the game room. Will be awesome to be able to use on both while having proper aspect ratios.

Since the Power Base Converter worked with the RetroGen you could, in theory, plug a RetroGen in and then use a Power Base Converter on that. And considering that would work you could probably also use a Mega Adapter for Mark III cartridges and cards.
And the console list keeps expanding...
N64/NES/FC/SNES/SFC/GB (SGB)/GBC (Black)(SGB)/FDS/Satellaview/Genesis/Mega Drive/Master System & maybe N64DD/GBC/GBA.

if it hasn't been mentioned yet, i was huffing about the potential issues with this thing on twitter and they contacted me claiming that their FM emulation has been completely reworked for the Genesis and that their Famicom slot supports all audio expansion chips.

i'm willing to bet it's using a software emulation instead of hardware emulation this time around because of all the features it packs. i have good hopes for this one, and will certainly be nabbing one to check it out. worried about potential input lag given that it might be software emulation, but still hopeful!

I think it's undoubtedly software emulation given the fact that there's save state support. That's one of my main reasons for wanting this thing, so I can play my battery-back-up games with confidence that my file won't be gone in the morning.

I'm still going to wait for some reviews to see how it handles but I'm pretty excited. It helps that I'm moving soon and this might allow me to put some consoles in storage until I have the space for them.

We should be hearing more about this in the coming days, as Hyperkin is attending E3. Can't wait to get more details about this device and (hopefully) a price and street date.

Some new info on the Retron 5:

I am really excited for this, maybe even more so than the next gen consoles.
