New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS) - Opinions?

Post by Jagosaurus »

Just got an awesome deal & ordered a sealed copy for $27 shipped. I really enjoyed NSMB Wii so I imagine I'll like this one as well.

You guys played this one, thought?

It wasn't as enjoyable as NSMBWii or NSMBU were. The coin collecting thing didn't do anything for me. Also there's no download play option for multiplayer which was disappointing.

I haven't played it, but I'm not surprised if a lot of people find it underwhelming compared to NSMBU. It has easily the best level designs of a 2D Mario game in a long, long time.

That said, I hear a lot of people are just generally disappointed by NSMB2. As CavZee said, the game focuses a lot more on coin collecting. I'm sure some people love it though.

I'm not terribly fussed about the main game, but coin rush (especially if you grab the DLC packs) is terribly addicting. I found the game to be worth it for that alone. In those DLC packs you will find some of the hardest official levels you've ever played -- and you'll keep coming back for more.

I tried the coin rush mode a bit but I'm generally not one to get into the "high score" sort've gameplay. That's just me though. I played through the main game in about 4 hours as well.

I loved it, probably just as much as NSMB Wii. I haven't played U yet, but NSMB2 is definitely better than the original on DS.

Check out this thread for some useful info: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... =2&t=41199

I definitely recommend checking out the download packs, especially the Gold Classic Pack.

It's fine. I thought NSMBU was better, though.

This is the kind of game you can't play too close to any of the others, because it'll just throw off all your expectations. I noticed once I finished the main worlds, I left it alone, went back to it a few months later and enjoyed myself much more.

I personally liked this one best of all the NSMB games, although I was also a big fan of the DS one over the Wii one. I won't argue that the Wii U probably has some more interesting level design, but for some reason this one just felt a lot more fun to me.

Good to hear. Looking forward to it!!! I was always more of a fan of Mario in 2D so this series naturally has my attention.
