Well, I'm going to find out soon.

I also pre-ordered Ghosts. Pretty excited for that.

I'm liking the maps for MW3 so far. I haven't played them all, but there isn't one I absolutely hate yet.

Its old and nobody plays it anymore I think, but I re-installed Battlefield 2 and the Forgotten Hope WW2 mod. There are still a few populated servers up, too 8)

Uh... any advice for countering riot shields? I normally don't have this problem but - NO JOKE - during tdm, there were five people on the opposing team with riot shields. FIVE! They all holed up in a building. Launching grenades was pretty much all I could do.

Throw c4 or stun grenades over them, if they are using tac mask or flak jacket just run from them they move slow. If they are camping hard don't run in and give them the kills, flush them out with flashbangs and explosives, and use emp to destroy their tac inserts and equipment.

What alternate universe have I wandered into where people are admitting MW2 and 3 are decent games? I guess they must finally be getting old.

As for playing online, BC2 (AKA the best BF ever) still has a community going... although most of the players are super good at the game. It's not very noob friendly, but that's an issue you're going to run into trying to play any online game that's older than about 1 year.

Thanks for the info.

I've been playing Modern Warfare 1. I forgot how bad people spam the Martyrdom perk. It's so freakin' annoying. If you're on a large-ish open map then you should be fine but for the most part the maps seem to have a lot of corridors and tight areas. You can't kill but one or two people before they drop an auto-grenade and get a free kill on you.

You know, I don't know why Martyrdom is a problem in this game. Rarely do I ever see someone use Martyrdom in the newer games... maybe it's because the newer titles have better perks.

I played the first Modern Warfare a fair bit, and I'm surprised people still use Martyrdom. But then again, I never stayed anywhere long enough to get hit with it. Just keep moving, ducking, and weaving. Here's a couple of builds to try:

Special Grenades x3, UAV Jammer, Extreme Conditioning, P90 with Suppressor attachment - Rush as soon as you spawn and stick to buildings to hide in. Nobody will see you coming, and when you appear, use your stun grenades and then empty your magazine into everyone. But keep moving!

Bandolier, Sleight of Hand, Steady Aim, M1014 - Run up to point blank, always fire from the hip, aim for the stomach, and let the recoil carry you to a headshot if they somehow live through your barrage. If the enemy survives all four shots, stab them in the face (Hell, empty your four shells as you run up and then stab to be sure). Reload and run away. People will scream at you for being a cheap n00b (least they did when I used to do this). But it is satisfying to keep this barrage up until you run out of ammunition and are forced to use your sidearm and your knife...of which I prefer the knife.

Both of these are about getting in, spraying your enemies, and getting out before something like Martyrdom can go off. Just focus on staying in motion and making a beeline for the nearest spot of cover the instant you drop someone. Hit fast and then vanish.
