Can they? Capcom's development house power has dwindled greatly in the last 2 years. Furthermore, Capcom's digital distribution focus isn't nearly as great as Sega's - 1/3 of Sega is dedicated entirely to digital distribution. Every announcement they've made in the last 2 years points to digital distribution being one of the most important pillars of the company. Sega is treating video games as a 3-cornered market - Home, Arcade, and DD. No other japanese company has that level of focus.marurun wrote:That same argument could be used for Capcom and Ducktales. Capcom can certainly handle the title in-house, but decided it was easier to hand it off to WayForward.TheSonicRetard wrote:So sega certainly has the capacity to handle such a project in-house. Not to mention that I doubt anybody could make a Disney game as great as Sega
Furthermore, Sega's choice to have Sega Asia develop Sonic 4 episode 2's engine and Dimps do the level design, compared to the way Dimps handled ALL of Sonic 4 episode 1 signifies a desire to handle digital distribution themselves. They have a dedicated AM2 port team for DD, for example.
Capcom and Sega are trending in completely opposite directions right now. In my eyes, they're mirror images of each other in the most literal way.
