Just got a sega saturn. Buying imports help.

Post by mas »

Well I just got a Saturn with analog controller, small genesis looking controller, nights,NBA jam, shockwaves assault, virtua fighter 2, virtua cop w/gun, and the sampler for 20.00 today. The lady wanted 40.00 but the reset button tab is missing and no a/c cord. Went to my local game store and got galactic attack, shinobi legends, fighting vipers and a/v.
Now my best bet to get games is the import route. First thank god I'm not into rpgs, is be broke lol. So I'm into the arcade/ fighting and racing games. I know I'm going to need the 4mb ram cart for the street fighter/ marvel games but what do I need if I buy just import games? Do I need another ram cart for kof or anything else? What are some suggestions. Thanks

Just get the Action Replay 4-in-1. Plays imports and has the RAM cart built right in.

IMO the 4-in-1 Action Replay is definitely your best option. Just be aware that you won't be able to play King of Fighters '95, since it requires the KoF '95 cart and won't work with anything else.

You could get a modchip if you wanted to get around that... but you could also just play other games.

Also Dezaemon 2 game creation won't work.
Its save files are so huge they must use a direct save/load backup cart.
(Action Replay save functions only run from the menu.)

Yeah keep in mind PAL games get forced 60hz by an NTSC saturn.
Optimized titles won't play quite right.
Lum fan.

Yeah KoF95 actually came with a ROM cart (not RAM) & game info was stored on the disk & cart.

I would also look into import games that happen to be cheaper than US games. For example I got JPN Clockwork Knight 1 & 2 for a few bucks each. Where CWK2 goes for $20-30 in the states. Also imported Vampire Savior for $5. You can save a lot of $ on English friendly JPN titles.

I have JPN XMen v Street Fighter. Great game. Look into that one.

List of PAL optimized titles to avoid (red stars).

Avoid PAL copies of those. Unfortunately Deep Fear is on it. Imported the JPN version.
