Woah woah woah, you mean the Wondermega strips out RGB? Why!?
Yes. RGB was actually added for the US market by X'eye.
But Genesis had RGB in the normal models... My US Genesis 1 does RGB no problem, and I'm assuming the Japanese Mega Drives are the same way. I don't see why the Wondermega took it out.

Oh well. Can it be modded for RGB? EDIT: apparently it can and it's pretty easy to do.
Perhaps the only time in console history, a company went out of their way to give RGB to Americans.

Other than Master System having an RGB amp that Mark III is said to lack.

It's strange. The amount of Americans actually making any use of RGB on consoles, especially back then, has to be astronomically tiny.

Yeah almost everyone who owned a 32X had no clue that's what the hardware was doing.

O.k i just need to ask anyone if they ever bought a genesis "as is" or a sega cd untested thru ebay. I dont want to spend 40 plus bucks to find out the systems dont work. I live by worcester ma and thats entertainment and other game places never have any sega cd systems so my only place is ebay. Let me know if anyone bought the sega cd or genny model 1 on ebay as is or untested.

Nope. Nobody in the history of history has ever bought a Sega system untested on ebay. It is verboten. It isn't like the wild west of willy nilly untested purchases those Nintendo lovers engage in.

Animals!

But seriously, look at the person's listings. If they are selling one untested without cords, make sure they aren't selling cords or another complete one now or previously. Or if they're selling a lot of other old systems, don't buy any sort of 'unable to test' nonsense when it is obvious they could have tested it and are lazy, or did test it and it was flaky so they're putting weasel words in there. Unless of course it is really cheap and you're handy to clean it up or fix a little if necessary.

Sega CD laser unit isn't the best for shipping so the seller needs to pack it to survive a blast, ha! Same with most older optical systems though. Shoot the seller a PM & request heavy packing.

I managed to buy a Sega CD locally via Craigslist. Luckily.

I wouldnt risk as is/untested postings unless you're very repair savvy. Usually broken rather than untested.

I was just going to buy the cdx for 170.00 on eBay. I have PayPal money and it was just going to cost me about 75.00. Just as luck would have it someone bought it before me. Guess I'm not meant to get the cdx. Lol. Just going to wait for a deal on the sega cd. If not then i will wait for the flea markets to open up and just find a model 1 and buy some genesis games. I do want to know what the difference are between the same games that are on sega cd and genesis like NBA jam, mortal kombat, batman, those are the only titles i can think of. I'm just thinking if I own the game on genesisthen why buy the same title on the Eva cd.

Minor differences, FMV intros, audio.

Some Sega CD "shovel ware" worth noting:
-Ecco the Dolphin games: completely new red book soundtrack, CGI cut scenes. This version was ported to PC.
-Eternal Championship CFTDS: a sequel as I said. Not the Genesis game despite title.
- Road Rash: actually a remake that came out around 3DO remake but not as good.

So with a few new sounds and some cut scenes its really the same game then. No graphical upgrades like mk2 on genesis to the 32x version.

I'm late to the party but my 2 cents for upgrading video/audio --

I have what I affectionately refer to as the "Death Star Genesis" (the fully monty - Model 2, 32x, and Model 2 CD). I recently had the Genny and 32x modded - Genesis had the CCAM audio mod put in and the 32x had S-Video and Stereo RCA jacks put on it. It looks amazingly professional, and was done for the whopping cost of $60 total by one retrogamer343 on Sega-16. He even put on a composite video jack just in case I ever needed to use it, and threw a switch on for me to flip between that and the S-Video since for whatever reason they can't both be working at once.

I'm not a crazy videophile or audiophile, I admit that, but the upgrade in quality was pretty fantastic, and it looks every bit as good as any Model 1 I've ever seen.
