Looking for a Sega Saturn Grandia translation guide
Re: Looking for a Sega Saturn Grandia translation guide
While the Saturn version seems to be better, I can't possible fathom that the differences are severe enough to justify a play through utilizing a clumsy translation guide.

The voices were enough for me to swear off attempts at the US PS1 version. Others may not be so sensitive.saturnfan wrote:While the Saturn version seems to be better, I can't possible fathom that the differences are severe enough to justify a play through utilizing a clumsy translation guide.

The voices didn't bother me too much, except for that stupid rabbit man. "We won, we won!" It's been at least 15 year since I played that game in college, but that grating voice still resonates in my memory today.

Good thing my guide wasn't clumsy, then.saturnfan wrote:While the Saturn version seems to be better, I can't possible fathom that the differences are severe enough to justify a play through utilizing a clumsy translation guide.

That's what I was thinking. Seems like it's more trouble than it's worth when there is a full English version on PS1.saturnfan wrote:While the Saturn version seems to be better, I can't possible fathom that the differences are severe enough to justify a play through utilizing a clumsy translation guide.

Impressed! I've thought about going through this with a patch work translation. Nice accomplishment.

Please share a link! Just started Grandia Sat tonight.TheSonicRetard wrote:So, i just finished grandia for the saturn. I played it using a variety of guides pulled from the internet, as well as those issues of SSM (i actually bought physical copies of those issues off of ebay). The glut of my translation guide came from a gamefaqs script of the psx version that someone dumped. It only translated the main story - no non-essential text was translated - but it was good enough to play with and made for a lean game. I found a site online that translates every object - weapons, armor, etc - with pictures. The same site also listed every shop inventory in the game. All this stuff together left me with a very comprehensive translation guide that made playing the saturn version a snap. If anybody is interested, i could throw the compiled guide online to download. I actually printed it all out - it was around 300 pages long. But, again, it made playing the saturn version feasible and easy to do. If you've ever watched subbed anime, you can follow the guide.
