Code Veronica Gamecube vs PS2

Post by JC48573 »

anybody knows the difference between the two. I heard they are exactly the same, but I also heard that Gamecube is better because it has less jaggies or something, then I heard ps2 had uncompressed videos. Does anybody who have both have an idea of which version is better?

The PS2 version is jaggier but honestly, you would be hard pushed to tell the difference. For me, I prefer the PS2 version because its on one disc instead of two and is soooo much cheaper. I picked it up for £2 as opposed to the GC version which regularly goes for up to £25.

Haven't played for myself but i can asume that GC has shorter loading screens (because of the smaller disc) but it is in 2 discs (i don't see the problem you only have to change de disc in 1 part of the game). If you don't like 2 discs games go for the PS2.

If you want a full set of the RE games go with the gamecube since every RE game has been ported/remaked in the console :P sadly 2, 3 and veronica are expensive.

Truthfully, Biohazard Code Veronica Kanzenban on Dreamcast destroys both ports mentioned here. Heck, even standard Resident Evil CV release is still better even with the lack of "X" additions which is simply just additional cutscenes added to the campaign. Games look mighty fine running in 640x480 VGA resolution.

What exactly makes it better?

Gamecube port looks the best IMO.

DC port is missing the added Wesker cut scenes. I also believe the character model were cleaned up a bit for the "X" release.

... this might be my favorite RE game. I would rent the DC port all the time back around 2000ish (was quite impressive at the time) but finally beat the Gamecube port years later.

Can't really go wrong either way BUT I wouldn't pay 4 - 5 times the cost for the GCN port. Get the PS2 or DC port on the cheap and enjoy.

Well Biohazard CV Kanzenban on Dreamcast is essentially "X" so its as equally complete in terms of the extra content and such that were implemented on GCN and PS2 ports of Code Veronica X. What makes it better is the game taking advantage of the perks of running on Dreamcast hardware (where the game was originally designed for). The game looks graphically superior over the others, especially when running in 31 KHz Progressive scan. The game looks VERY good running in this configuration. The game utilizing the VMU is another wonderful feature. I really appreciate checking the health status and ammo count WITHOUT having to go into the games respective menu. The game's audio quality also sounds much better over the other 2 ports.

Nope. The only major character model to get a face lift of sorts was Steve Burniside. That's it.

I also feel the same way. CV is easily my favorite in the entire series. I've beat the DC port quite a few times and when i heard of the minor changes that were added to the CV X, I refused to experience it on anything but Dreamcast. That is why I FINANLLY imported Kanzenban on Dreamcast last year and finally played it the way i always wanted to for the first time.

1 disc vs. 2 is the biggest difference really. Really great game too. The CG intro always seemed really cool too. ;D

Actually, I take that back. The biggest difference is the disparity between the prices of both versions. :P
