I'm using a oXbox controller fitted w/ a usb dongle and the homemade XBox Controller Driver and it works flawlessly for everything I've thrown at it, cept when the game wont cooperate, arg. But yeah, the driver download did no include To-Keyboard emulator. I haven't searched the web yet (I've been bouncing around all day with work and errands and crap) but I definitely will.

@Popo
And yea I hear ya about the joystick support deal. I didn't even know it did until I searched around and discovered that you have to open the ..System/Default.cfg file and make UseJoystick=False say UseJoystick=True. The cool thing was forward/back/strafing was its initial setup. Unlike Quake which initially had the stick set for forward/back/turning but like I said above I was able to straighten that out.

Thanks for all the help the help thus far guys! Now if anyone knows how to make the game obey all the configuration files...

Lemme tell yaz, navigating "Halo style" with the controller stick and aiming w/ the mouse is the bees knees. Deus Ex just doesn't seem to want me to eliminate the keyboard.

For a while I was playing UT and QIII with my old pad in my left hand, using the D-pad to move, left trigger to jump, and mouse to aim, shoot, and change weapons. It worked well for straight action FPS games, but it doesn't work nearly as well IMHO once you have to activate buttons and do more than aim, shoot, and move.

So, just a comfort thing? I don't see the point in using a pad if you're not at least getting analog movement.

We're talking about PC FPS games here. WASD is just as digital as a D-pad is. Also keep in mine I was holding the pad with only my left hand since I was using mouse in the right. But yes, it was a comfort thing for me at the time as I had a bit of carpal tunnel irritation going on.

But anyway, back to our regularly scheduled thread.

I'm sure there's a couple console FPS ports on PC that support analog movement with a pad. I wouldn't exactly know any, but I'd imagine they're out there.

haha, and JoytoKey surfaces again, guess I'll have to give it a shot.

Before I figured out how to set the joystick to strafe in Quake 1 & 2 I was trying the dpad, the problem with that was trying to strafe and walk or backpedal at the same time. Diagonal presses on the dpad didn't count as left+up, etc so it couldn't be done

But just for curiosity's sake (and because I believe the game should be obeying the config file) if anyone has an idea of what I might be doing wrong...

Xpadder sounds like the best bet. There are tons of tutorials online. You can probably find one to apply to this game, pretty easily.
