A small child should have that kind of impatience. Not an adult. I don't think I've ever been that excited about a media object. Everything can wait.
And for the record, does MGS4 really excite you guys that much? I've watched many trailers, and I just don't see the appeal. I'm not getting into the story at all. Too much of a family reunion thing going on. I also listened to the soundtrack and its the worst in the core series of 6 games, by a long shot.
It could be about patience, but I tend to think of it is as passion. Maybe us old folks lost some of the sparks, some of the fire as we grow older.
As for MGS4, personally for me it is the story. It is like a captivating book that I just cannot put down because I want to know what happens next. With MGS4, it is the conclusion to that great book. I want to know who lives, who dies, and after reading all those pages (playing all those games for almost 10 years), how it will finally end. Bottom line, if you don't get wrapped up in the story, then you won't enjoy it half as much.
Philosophy is one of my favorite subject and since the MGS series have quite a few philosophical ideas in there, I love it even more. My favorite metaphysical moment was in MGS2 with the concept of information control or information censorship. We usually believe in whatever we see and read without questioning its factuality or credibility. In a way, it is like we are being told what to do, what to learn, what to believe. Makes you wonder if we are just mindless drone following instruction from our master, whoever that might be, the government, God, the Patriots???
