The crabs "rust" your armor taking cutting it's defensive ability down a ton.
Use the magic oil to fix.

Edit... Saw that DS said the same thing.
I am also stuck on D6... I just don't have the patience to keep redoing it.

Hmm...it's pretty enjoyable just exploring and trying to fill out my map. Finally ran across Gillian (loved the 8-bit Golden Axe theme!) and the sense of danger when my health gets low (trying not to use save states) adds to the overall enjoyment. Still wandering around trying to find the 2nd dungeon though...and I have to backtrack to the town VERY often to avoid death. Yeah, I'm still pretty bad.

SERIOUSLY? Ugh -- was going to attempt dungeon 6 in a bit.

I noticed too that hits don't take away 1/2 heart or 1 heart. Lots of hits take away 1/4 heart or even less.

I beat the boss of dungeon 6 after diner, but I don't have enough keys to get the ice bell... I have lost almost all my life that was replenished after beating the boss looking for a key. I have yet to find the least key... I'll try again tomorrow.

how did you beat him? Did you need a lot of magic? I hope not, cuz I'm tapped out and I don't really wanna have to do a ton of backtracking... (might have to anyway for stupid oil to fix this stupid armor...)

I used thunder magic since it uses less total magic pots. I used the "stand in the doorway" strategy (which I use often) until I ran of magic then I only hash to hit him a couple times. I didn't get hit... So I guess he was one of the easiest.

Ok, going to go unlock the game and give it a whirl. Found I still had some Dow graph paper which is what I used for everything as a kid. So I'm, uh, golden. 8)

I'm slowly drawing a map, but man, this game isn't very good. The big problem is controlling and attacking. It is so inconsistent. :?

If you're going up or down and are lined up with a tree or something perfectly, you stop. If you are halfway, it scoots you around. That's bad enough, but when you're coming from the side of a tree if it is a single one it will scoot you around no matter what. That causes you to run into enemies you're trying to catch as they walk around a tree. In Zelda you'd just stop if you were hitting something full on or halfway.

For attacking, the pig guys spears are centered so they'll always hit you if you're at least halfway lined up. Your sword is offset though. So going up and down you'll miss if you're half offset the wrong way. Sideways if you're half above something you'll hit is but half below you'll miss. In Zelda your sword was always in the middle no matter what direction you were facing so you'd hit consistently when half lined up every time.

Stealing money from you when you continue is bullshit too. Sure it is an incentive not to die, but when starting out at least it is a killer. I'm not surprised Noise was talking about abusing the gambling. I'm sure glad I am playing this on the Gen collection and didn't spring for an actual SMS cart. :?
