I like to play Civilization 3 or 4 when I'm not feeling well, since it's turn-based. No need for reflexes or acting immediately.

I used to play Beatmania when sick. And yes, I'm aware it must be the worst choice ever if you are sick.

When I'm a bit saner I play OpenTTD. Relaxed, slow, fun. A good pick.

Its been a long time since I felt ill enough to not be able to do the stuff I'd normally do anyway. Even if I was genuinely too sick to go to work or uni or whatever, I'd not do anything special at home.

When you are sick, you should play a game that tries to pull at your heart strings. Cut scenes that seem that seem a little cheesy normally can be tear-inducing when you are out of your head with a fever.

True story: A few years ago, I helped some neighbors move some mulch that had accumulated in their back yard. (They had a large delivery several months earlier and had not used all of it; so, my wife and I were taking off their hands and using it in our yard.) Anyway, as I proceeded to move the mulch, we noticed that mold was growing on some of the mulch at the bottom of the pile. Being an idiot, I disregarded the mold and moved the mulch anyway.

The next day, I had a moderate to high fever that I now realize was likely low-level toxic mold syndrome. Since I was ill, I took the day off of work and - when I got bored lying in bed - decided to continue my game of Beyond Good and Evil. I reached the point where
the villains abduct the children at Jade's light house, and she is greeted by the dog. She tearfully says to the dog, "I know you did your best to protect them, but they were just too much," or something along those lines.

With a 103 degree fever, that was just too much. I lost it, and was bawling like they had just shot Old Yeller or Kevin Costner had suddenly popped out to play catch with his dad. Rationally, I realized that the scene was cheesy, but with my fever, I simply could not keep my emotions in check. Realizing this, I decided that I had to consume some other media that day to maximize its emotional impact. Accordingly, I popped "An Affair to Remember" in the VCR and bawled throughout the last 20 minutes or so of the movie (yelling, "But he still loves you!!" through tears). I think I enjoyed the film much more than I would have if I had watched it normally since my wife hates it and we had previously watched several scenes from the movie for the sole purpose of ridiculing them.

Anyway, the lessons here are: (1) play emotionally-charged videogames when you are sick to maximize their otherwise non-existent emotional impact; (2) "Beyond Good and Evil" is an awesome game that everyone shoule play; and (3) "An Affair to Remember" is pretty good if you are in an altered mental state.

I work with kids, so I get sick more often than I used to.

Took last Monday off, played Radiant Historia all day. Nice and slow RPG, everything is turned based. Beat the game!

I have high tolerance, so I don't exactly get sick, as much as they don't let me go to school or work. :( So I usually sit home and play games, usually something not flashy so I can avoid headaches. Other than that its not really different from any other day off.

Oh, and I have high tolerance for almost everything, so 3 shots of morphine and I'm not even slightly off. That was an interesting hospital visit...

I haven't had the luxury of being sick and staying home from work in a few years. I've been sick but at work. :(
Thanks everyone...
