And that's why I'm still annoyed that they didn't give the role of Joker to Mark Hamill.
I really feel it in my gut that Jack Nicholson could have reprise his role as the Joker to make a darker, gritter version like he was nuts in The Departed or when he was crazy in The Shining. What inspired me even deeper on that feeling was Batman: Under the Red hood.

Gonna be honest, when I seen Heath Ledger's performance, he looked so drugged up that to me, he seemed too incompetent as The Joker where when Jack Nicholson is crazy, he still has complete control which makes it so diabolically brilliant.

When I think of Heath Ledger, I think of a hyped up movie that Montel Williams lost his job over because he spoke out against it talking about the troops dying over seas ( slightly off topic, but the point is.. ) that the media really hyped this movie up with his death.

If they ever did a proper adaption of Frank Millers Dark Knight then I'd be all for Jack Nicholson being the Joker again.

Ledger did an alright job - he was a much more compelling villain than any Batman movie had featured since Batman Returns. I think the timing of his death caused public opinion of his performance to be a little inflated, though.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I think Nicholson's Joker is a bit too "comic" for Nolan's take on Batman imo.

Agreed, but in that movie the true acting I have to give that movie to is Tommy Lister Jr. aka Deebo in the orange suit :P

I think Ledger played an amazing sadistic nutjob; he just didn't play the Joker.

Well said.

And I firmly agree with what AppleQueso said there quoted above about TAS being quite possibly the best interpretation of the character(s), hence why as much as I like the Nolan movies, I'd put Arkham Asylum above them because it was just utterly 90's Batman TAS, and I loved that.

See, I felt the Ledger Joker was very true to modern interpretations of the character. A morbid sense of humor, creating chaos simply because it amuses him, the 'multiple choice' past, etc. It's a unique interpretation in a ton of ways, but I don't think it's anywhere near as far removed from the character as people sometimes say.

For that matter, I find it strange how some people so often complain about Nolan's deviations from the source material, yet comparatively fewer complain bout Tim Burton's, who's changes were often far more drastic.

I mean Batman Returns turned The Penguin, an intelligent, sane, high society "gentleman of crime", into a grotesque, unlikable, deformed man who was raised by penguins. The only thing he had in common with the comic book character was his name and the fact that he was short and pudgy.

May be it's just because the Nolan films are newer and in the public eye a lot more right now, but still. I find it odd how many of the fans who hate the Nolan films for their changes seem totally fine with Burton's.

That's just fans for you. I like how a lot of TransFormers fans complain that the robots in the Michael Bay movies are unrecognizable as Transformers because of stylistic differences in how the vehicle parts are broken up--yet many of these same people had no problem with the Transformers in Beast Wars being six-foot-tall and covered in synthetic meat. It's like any time theres a New Change, any and all Old Change becomes the new established and accepted history, despite any previous controversy it might have engendered.

No, the problem with Bay's transformers is that they look like shit and they aren't the stars of their own movie. But those movies are so shitty you just can't stop yourself from complaining about everything. FFS the Transformer Armada and Animated shows were better than the movies.

Word, they need more color. Not to say I'm blind and can't tell them apart, but they aren't very distinguishable. And as you said, they aren't even the stars of the movies. I bet a fan edit taking out the human stuff would strip down 70-80% of the movie, kind of like if you wanted to see Inception without Ellen Page... that's pretty much impossible.
