A topic for discussing what you think are the worst fanbases you know. It can be a fanbase for any medium: video games, book series, TV shows, sports teams, breakfast foods, just anything.
I'd say the Sonic the Hedgehog games have the worst fanbase I know of. Sure, Final Fantasy fans are annoying, and Legend of Zelda fans are infuriatingly impossible to please, but at least they don't have a sizable subset of furry fans. You can't browse about the internet reading about Sonic stuff without eventually stumbling upon some furry art/rule 34.

You're close. Fans of just the games usually don't care about anything except running fast and busting up robots. The Sonic the Hedgehog comics fanbase far surpasses that of the games on this criteria, however. This was actually one of the first things that came to mind before I even got to that part of your post. I'd have to pick a different winner depending on what criteria we're looking at:
Archie Sonic comics fandom - most perverted
Twilight - lowest IQ average
Harry Potter - Most irritating
Star Wars - Most nit-picky, most biting of "the hand that feeds you," and for missing the entire point of the movies in the first place.
Maybe the Star Wars fandom should win this on their sheer number of accomplishments, but the other three all grate on me so much worse that I still can't decide...
