I played it a bunch back when it was new at the mall arcade where I grew up, but have never seen a cab of it since. The arcade game is unlockable on the PS2 Sega Genesis collection. Admittedly I haven't unlocked it yet though.

Matthew Doucette posts on these forums sometimes. He created Duality ZF, which does exactly what you are talking about. He'd be a good person to chat with about this.
