I have a feeling I will end up needing the space anyways and 500GB should suffice. 160GB is just what he happens to have and being that I was going to throw some money at him for doing this for me, although he's insisting that it's not necessary, I don't feel right about it and might as well go for the 500GB. It's weird because we're just really work friends and don't really get together outside of work too often. I did go to his bachelor party, wedding, and help him move into his house and then out of the house during the divorce (long story). Yeah, it is very nice of him to do this. Maybe he just wants to repay me? I don't know, not necessary but I don't want to pass this up and I'm going to do something for him regardless if he won't take cash. I do know I just went completely off subject here! Sorry.

Thanks for the support and info on this stuff guys! I'm pretty stoked about this now and I'll let you know once I get my Xbox back fully loaded! I feel like it's going to come back all Terminator bad ass like or more like I'm supping up a car into a hot rod or something like that!! 8)

Don't forget that if you want to do the hard drive upgrade you need to make sure you use an IDE hard drive and NOT a SATA drive. The Original Xbox is only compatible with IDE HDD.

Try the SATA to IDE adapter. the guy who sold me mine has a 2TB SATA drive in his. Mine has a 750gb SATA in it. I got an IDE TO SATA adapter off amazon. It works great.

Ok, I can't get the Turbo Graphix 16 Roms (although I only tried 2 games so far) to work on this Xbox Mod. Is that common with TG16 emulation on modded systems?
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

You're using the BAED right? I haven't used it, it's possible there's something wrong with the TG16 emulator on it. Try installing MednafenX-PCE directly to your hard drive, it should work.

Yes, it's BAED. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. I'll give medafenX-PCE a shot though. Thanks.

I guess it's hit or miss with BAED Turbo Graphix 16 emulation on this thing. Some of the games work. I just can't get Battle Royal or Ghost Manor to work so far. Pretty much the same issue I have with Surreal 64 for the N64 emulation. Oh well. :|

Unless you want to play Mario 64 or OoT, N64 emulation basically sucks no matter where you try it.

The Big Ass Emulator Disc is sorely out of date. Get yourself onto the Xbins FTP and download the most recent versions of all the emulators you're into. You'll be pleasantly surprised how much better they became.

Yeah, that's the problem with collections like that. The state of the art advances, while the collection is frozen in time. What you really want is Coinops, which supports MAME and a bunch of other emulator cores (TG16 included). It's still being actively updated, and you can get a ~20GB romset for it that includes gameplay videos. There should be a new version out soon, so keep an eye out for an updated romset. Usenet and Underground-Gamer are the best places to check.

Really? Interesting. Coin ups is actually on there so I'll have to see what Roms are in there. It's really ALOT of games to go through. The guy that did this for me put so much on there for me that I'm still going through it and we've both been insanely busy so I haven't really had the chance to ask him about anything.

Here's what I have on this Mod, figure I'd list it:

BAED with NES, SNES, SMS, Atari 2600 & 5200, Neogeo pocket, MSX, Wonder Swan, Turbo Graphix 16, Intellivision, Colecovision, and Atari Lynx.

BAED #2: Game Boy, GB color, GBA, & Game Gear.

Final Burn Legend 1.3: Neogeo, CPS1, CPS2, psykyo and cave roms

MAME OX

MAMED OX

Coinops showroom x

Surreal 64

PCSXBOX

CPX3

Broken Xmugen

That's how it was listed to me when I asked through email about it. I'm at work now so I don't have the xbox in front of me with everything. It's pretty cool, just frustrated with certain emulations/roms not working but I've heard even before I got this done that it's common and a pain in the ass.
