Awesome style, awesome controller, excellent exclusive games. Seriously, people need to stop hating on the Cube.
For the record I'm not hating on the Cube but which exclusives do you consider on the Cube to be excellent ?

Back on the topic however I think it's too early to consider the 360 or PS3 as an alltime greatest console just yet just because while it has been the usual 5 years this cycle hasn't ended yet.

Plus a lot of games are refinements of old games which makes games feel kinda samey I'm not saying bad but still samey.
Also this gen has seen the dumbing down of games on one hand it's good as more people get to play but on the other hand I feel that the some of the latest iterations of franchises are not the best in their series

Well, let's make a list of game consoles that can have had a major foothold in the US:

1. Atari VCS
2. Nintendo Entertainment System
3. Sega Genesis
4. Super Nintendo Entertainment System
5. Playstation
6. Nintendo 64
7. Sega Dreamcast
8. Playstation 2
9. Gamecube
10. XBox
11. Wii
12. XBox 360
13. PS3

I might be missing a couple, but in this case I think this was more a case of deciding which consoles NOT to include than which to include.
Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii

Not to be a jerk, but that isn't exactly an impressive list...

The Metroid Prime games alone are worth the $30 purchase for a Gamecube. Those games are amazing, and are better than a lot of next-gen games even. The first-time you see the Pheandra Drifts area is breath-taking.

And Super Mario Sunshine is a helluva 3D platformer. Truthfully, I usually don't like too many 3D platformers. I think like the only other ones I've really enjoyed were the Pac-Man World games and the first 2 Crash Bandicoots. Otherwise I'm a 2D platformer type of guy. Yet I got addicted to Super Mario Sunshine.

If you're a big Resident Evil fan, than that's another reason to own a Gamecube. Resident Evil: Zero is exclusive to Gamecube. There is also the remake of the original Resident Evil, which really is a big improvement over the original. And you've got Resident Evil 4 plus ports of Resident Evil 2 & 3, as well as a port of Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. Eternal Darkness is very unique horror game that is exclusive to Gamecube as well.

And of course you have The Legend of Zelda games. WindWaker and Twilight Princess. I don't think I have to say much about Zelda. One of the greatest game series of all-time.

And there are some great JRPGs on Gamecube, or so I've heard. I personally don't play JRPGS.

Add to that: Most Gamecube versions of multiplatform games look better on Gamecube than they do PS2.

Yes! glad to see the Gamecube made it on the list! Also, brunoafh, I am pretty sure you are in the minority here by dissing the Gamecube. It is a fantastic console with a large library of great games made for one of the sturdiest, quietest [for a disc console], most compact, and most reliable pieces of gaming hardware ever built. Sorry, but like it or not, the Gamecube DESERVES a place on this list. So many classic games; I'll add to YoshiEgg's list a few more awesome games:

Viewtiful Joe
Cubivore
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
P.N.03
Battalion Wars
Chaos Field
Ikaruga
Shikigami no Shiro 2
Radirgy
Eternal Darkness
Homefront
Phantasy Star Online Episodes I,II,&III
Eternal Darkness
Resident Evil 0-4 + Code Veronica
Metroid Prime I&II
F-Zero GX
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Wave Race: Blue Storm
Star Fox Assault
Game Boy Player

And, like YoshiEgg, these are only the ones off the top of my head. I'm sure I could make a better list when I am looking at my collection.

I didn't "diss" the GameCube. I own one. I was just saying it doesn't exactly excel when it comes to it's exclusive software selection.

That may be, especially when compared to the sheer volume of PS2 titles, but this list was based on the average ratings of all of the console's games, so the games the Gamecube had were, overall, quite good compared to most consoles.

These were multi-platform, else those would've been on my list.

Can't believe I forgot Metroid Prime.
