Re: little spare time but can't stop buying games
I find myself to be the same way. Lately I haven't been playing too much but I'm always looking for a great deal on some games I don't own.
Re: little spare time but can't stop buying games
I have that problem too. At least, whenever I have money I do. I think I get more entertainment out of purchasing the games than I really do playing them. Still, I don't leave any thing unopened, and always fully intend to play. Just seems like I'll often play just a couple of times and then move on. Collecting is fun I guess.
I wouldn't even play as much as I do if not for backloggery, or a similar mentality to what it facilitates. The goal oriented, checklist checking is the primary reason for me to finish most of my games. Well, aside from those that really excite me, usually the Nintendo first party games, or games that remind me of them.
Looking at it another way, perhaps it is best though. This way, whenever we run out of money for games, or we're done collecting, etc, there will be quite a few games left to still play.

Re: little spare time but can't stop buying games
I, myself have greatly moved away from mass collecting of video games. Part of the reason is financial, but also I don't see myself playing the majority of these games so it seems a little pointless to have all this money wrapped up in something that just sits on the shelf. What is funny about this is that a lot of this started after I moved last year and the house that I moved into has a 'man cave' for me. Now that I have more space for games, I find myself wanting less of them. I still pick up newer stuff that I see on clearance at Target or Wal*Mart and still hit the flea market every couple weeks.

I've been going to the local flea market every sunday, always bringing at least a 20 and walking away with some great games. I from time to time stop by yard sales and hunt down stuff on CL as well. This year in itself I have collected so many games and new systems. I believe this time last year I had 60+ snes games and I now have over 100. I love collecting though, it's so exciting (for me) to find old classics in person.

The title of this thread corresponds DIRECTLY to me right now.
I can NOT turn down a good deal or stop myself from going to thrift stores and yard sales. Impossibleh.

I think you described hobbyist in general....
There are many car guys out there with room to store vehichles who can't pass on a great deal on a vintage car... even if they'll barely drive it & possibly flip it later to another car enthusiast.
Ours is just games & shelf space lol. As long as you're not putting a financial strain on yourself or your family (been some depressing threads on this...) then I say go for it. And, key....you're enjoying it.
