Personally, I would report him to Amazon and get your money back. Amazon should treat you well and get rid of this scum.

or at least see if you can get a full refund first, if he isnt polite and willing to pay you back in full then report him.
Screw that -- the guy is being deceptive.
Why leave him there to screw others over and take away sales from legit sellers.
If people want backups, they can make their own or find a burner that will at least be honest with them and give the a reasonable deal.

He probably won't get in real trouble, just kicked off from Amazon's seller program.

$15 is a bit expensive for backups, i always thought 4 or 5 bucks would be fair.
Trouble is if he isn't taken off of Amazon he will continue to rip people off.

We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Yeah, I don't see how the guy could have an unlimited supply of the GD-Rs... I didn't notice the part where you said that he is still selling them on Amazon. One - maybe two - I can see. I have a couple of them myself. But anymore than that is really suspicious.

Originalname - do you have a digital camera so you can take pictures of the front and back of the disk? I can easily tell you whether or not they are the review copy GD-Rs that I was talking about or a simple bootleg.

I just looked at the rest of the guys storefront. Every dreamcast game he has states that it is a full review copy of the game. He's selling bootlegs alright.

I e-mailed him from my amazon account for him to send me a picture of the front and back of the disk. We'll see what happens...

Powerstone 2, Marvel vs Capcom 2, and Sonic Adventure 2 are the 3 most common fakes you will find online, I can tell you that much. Sellers know that these games run for decent amounts, and they'll use any deceptive tactics to sell you backups of them. The one that is most cruel however is Sonic Adventure 2, because it's FMVs are severely down-sampled, and the music is mono-ized. So with that one, you're buying a crappy fake.

Alright, well...

I can't take a picture of the discs right now, because my camera's at my girlfriend's house, but I can describe them the best I can.

But first, I should note that the Power Stone 2 disc surprisingly worked a couple minutes ago, and worked again when I tried it a second time. No boot disc or anything. It's strange, because I tried it several times before with no luck, but now it works perfectly. But it's definitely not an official disc; I'm comparing it to a Sonic Adventure 2 disc, and, unlike SA2, the disc doesn't have the Official Sega Liscencing band on the shiny side, and actually, upon very close inspection, has the word CD-R written on the inside. Also, the front cover of the disc seems quite dull compared to my other Dreamcast discs. It has the art, but things seem pretty saturated.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 still doesn't work though, despite my best efforts. The only difference between the PS2 and MvC2 discs is that MvC2 explicitly states "REVIEW DEMO ONLY - NOT FOR RESALE" across the front, unlike the PS2 disc. When I go to the Music option of "Play, Music, File, Option" screen (someone please give me an easier name for it), I can see that the disc at least has files on it.

Regardless, I'm all but certain these are counterfeits at this point. I'm really surprised that PS2 works though, being that it appears to be on a regular CD-R and I wasn't using a boot disc, especially considering that it didn't work before. Peculiar.

Yeah, just to clarify though, the SA2 disc I was using in my comparison is very legitimate. I bought it new in 2001.

Yeah, your right,
I can see if your honest about it but he is straight up lying on amazon and jipping people off and not giving them what the description says.

also what that does is make the people selling the real thing lose their sales, so F$$$ him then!

I know why that is, what he did was burn them at high speeds. That happened to me, they will only boot once in a while. Once you boot them they usually work perfect, but the initial boot doesnt work real good when the disc is burnt at high speeds.

Dreamcast games should be burnt at 8x or lower, ive done 10x and the game wont boot all the time. sometimes they come out perfect and sometimes they require a few tries to get the game to boot. Ive burnt them at 20x and they didnt work at all.

So that will answer your question why it isnt working well, he is burning them (the seller on amazon) at high speeds and he a rookie bootleger making the mistake of burning games to fast, lol !! this means that many other people will get faulty games, lol!

As much as it bothers me to be lied to about what I was buying, is there anyway to make the most of my purchase and get Marvel vs. Capcom 2 working? Can I rip the files from the CD and re-burn them onto another CD-R at a slower speed?
