But, as a Cleveland fan (of all sports) if LeBron leaves I will be prepared. See Carlos Boozer, CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee, The Fumble, The Drive, and The Shot.

Also, with LeBron not deciding either way, he is hurting the Cleveland Cavs. No one will sign as a Free Agent or to coach until they know if LeBron will or will not be part of the team next year... and by the time he makes his decision after all his meetings it may be too late to sign anyone else (to join or replace him.)

The only bright side to LeBron leaving is that my old season ticket seats will go back to the $10 instead of $35 a game per seat and I can afford them again.

Yeah, I actually feel bad for Cleveland. I watch ESPN all the time and all they talk about is Lebron going to New York, Chicago  , Miami, or New Jersey. They rarley talk in Cleveland. I think it is going to be difficult for Lebron to resign with Cleveland because they don't have any salary to spend on other free agents to make the team around him better. You could always sign and trade players like Mo Williams or Antwan Jamison though.

The one team that scares me is the Miami Heat. They have the most money to spend on free agency and I believe it is guaranteed that Dwayne Wade will re-sign with them. Now I see Dwayne Wade recruiting other players to play for Miami. I heard that last weekend Wade, Bosh, and Lebron had dinner in Miami to talk about possibly all three of them playing in Miami. If that happens, that would suck for the rest of the eastern conference.
yup, i hate what Lebron is doing to his "hometown". it will be nicer and sweeter to win a championship to your hometown than anywhere else. i'm going to call him a moron and a coward (and of course a cry baby) for skipping out on cleveland if that happens.

and yes i also heard the rumor of the trio of wade, bosh and james in miami. bleh.

Well, you gotta respect individual freedom and choice.

IF James were to sign a one-year deal with the Cavs, I think the city should be proud of it, and it will depend on how the ownership and management could work closely with James to ensure the franchise to succeed at a higher level.

On the other hand, if James were to sign for the highest money (unlikely), then he gets no respect from me.

As for my hometown team, the T-Wovles, lets hope we can get some good players; it seems that only a few basketball players have RESPECT for this state, when other sports players (MLB, NFL, NHL) are willing to come here.

The problem is the short contract. Last time James signed a 3 year deal instead of 6, causing the team to have a "must win now" attitude. If he signs anything less than 6 years, I almost would rather him leave Cleveland. He basically hand picked the team by asking for Shaq and declining other trades that would have helped the team in the long run.
So, I am against the 1 year deal... remember Chicago would be the best place for him to win because they built their team the right way with youth not spending money for a one year win. Lets hope LeBron realizes that and signs for 6 years - which would also be the most money since no other team can offer him more money than the Cavs (the same goes for all free agents and their current team.)

I feel ya on that one.

Kind of like how ESPN always talks about Tiger Woods not winning, and they forget to mention who is actually winning tournaments. I have no idea who is winning golf tournaments, and true, I have little interest in golf if any, but it would be nice to know who is winning, and not who is coming in 16th place.

Yeah, seriously.

If I were Pierce, I'd be content with winning just one championship with the team that drafted me. Going to another team would just tarnish his legacy. I'm not sure what combination of money and more championship opportunities would be enough to compensate for his legacy.

I think Pierce and Dirk may use the free agency to get more money with the same team, since the CBA is almost up, and already people are saying a "harder" cap could be in play for next season or the season after.

BOSTON (AP)—The Boston Celtics have agreed to terms with captain Paul Pierce(notes) on a deal that could keep the MVP of their 2008 title run with the team for another four seasons.
 good news for your cat.

and it seems like Amare Stoudmire is headed to the Knicks.
