From a collector's standpoint, to own a piece of history, a unique Rare "Video Game Find". Not by pictures on a web page but actually being able to own that Kiosk and having the option of playing console in that Kiosk.

Video Game Collectors love collecting Video Games.

If I'm going to (essentially) buy the same game again, I want either a remake (ie. Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X) or a port that has enhancements worth a shit (ie. *Marvel vs. Capcom 2 PSN/XBLA).

*MvC2 has online play which the original did not have.
It's a double edged sword, but I only tend to buy retro cops which are awesomely done.

Take for example the two comps I own:

Sonic Mega Collection - Gamecube ver.:
Unlike the PS2 and Xbox versions the original Gamecube version featured perfect/near-perfect ports of all the games featured on it. Nothing was emulated and it was one of the last examples of a compilation done right with money put into it, no cut corners and some generous bonus content for the time with the included sonic comics and movies.

Sonic Gems Collection:
Included the first time we'd ever seen a home version of Sonic the Fighters and the only other way to comfortably and easily play Sonic CD and Sonic R outside of their original hardware or archaic PC versions and emulation.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Thank you!

This is exactly my sentiment. I grew up playing these kiosks for hours and hours on end at the stores before ever getting their respective consoles, so having one is actually a big deal for me as it's owning an icon of my childhood.

I didn't know the GameCube version was really any different. I'll have to try it out. Does the GC version include whole Sonic Comics or just the covers like the XB/PS2 version?

The Gamecube version has the complete first five issues of the comic in one compilation issue on the disc and was awesome in that regard. Also unlike the PS2 and Xbox versions the Gamecube version fills the entire screen like a real genesis would and is permanently set to a full-screened view at all times; not in that odd slight window-box or full window-box the PS2 and Xbox versions have.

Also, another cool thing is that Sonic Gems Collection runs in 480p if you have a Gamecube or Wii component cable which really makes Sonic CD and Sonic the Fighters look amazing and totally worth the money to get a copy of the comp.

Different era same feeling. Coleco, Arcadia, Intellivision and the venerable Atari. No quarters, play the Store Kiosks! Starpath Store Display of upgrading that 2600 was pretty phenomenal at the time. Games would normally load into added memory of Starpath by cassette tape. Silly as that sounds, very unique. The Store Demo "cassette tape" is a rom cart plugged into the Starpath.

Then years later to see that Starpath and Kiosk Rom cart at a Swap Meet.

Imagine owning a Colecovision Kiosk now.
Now Imagine the PS2 Kiosk in 20 years.

A couple of things.

First off, I'd complain to his boss and to the corporate office about how he completely blew off corporate, and another district manager. Even if it creates trouble for you, fuck this guy. Give him as much shit as you possibly can. And even if they don't do anything, corporate will have some kind of record of this guy going behind their backs. If your district manager comes by or you get a chance to talk to her, complain about it. And make it clear to her that she also got undermined, not just you.

Second off, I'd start looking for a new job now, because if things go south and you get the fallout, you'll need another job. If your store manager likes you, cool. Use him as a reference. But don't go above his level.

In addition, bad policy for any District Manager who doesn't take of his employees, even those from another District. I think Corporate mindset of "Take Care of Customers" also applies to their own workers. Managers that don't are not good for the company, maybe Corporate might see that and put pressure on that manager to find you a kiosk.

The ammunition you have besides your work ethic is the thought that you live and breathe Video games even off the clock.
Maybe bring up that you also Moderate a Retro Gaming Site to show why personal importance of getting that Kiosk.
(Well maybe edit previous pages of your negative statements and by all means, this sentence I am now typing.)
Careful, too much static may cause risk of your job, hope you find another Kiosk.

Doesn't work that way at GS. You see, despite what my employee handbook says employees are actually punished/penalized or risk the loss of their jobs by even speaking to their DM's much more so calling them up for any reason whatsoever. The reason for this is unknown, all employees are told by DM's and their own managers is that DM's can make or break practically any and all rules they want to for the most part without question.

I'm trying man, believe me. The job market is a bitch at the moment, and I need a job any way I can get it for now so no quitting unless I already have another secure job.
