Well in the last two weeks I have completely given up on any and all hope of GameStop being even slightly decent from a very loose perspective.

For those of you who know I have been trying to acquire a PS2 Kiosk that was being readied for the scrap heap. After numerous calls to Sony, speaking with my store's Sony rep. and being assured that Sony was 100% OK with it and several calls to my district manager I was completely approved to take it home. Thanks to some very nice rules on GameStop's part people are free to take home kiosks that are on their way to the dump under one condition, the system inside of the kiosk itself must be kept by the store. So I think to myself, "No sweat, I' have plenty of PS2's to stick inside of it." and wait happily for the call telling me to come pick it up.Apparently though, for **** the manager from the **********, NC GameStop store all of the work I went through and company policy doesn't mean shit.

You see apparently this store I was set to get the kiosk from is the first one out of my district, but from everything told to me by Sony and my own company's rules I'm not expecting any problems to arise. Wrong, see this guy **** who manages the **********, NC store is apparently the district manager for that district and was completely against the idea once he found out. No sweat so far, I simply called my DM once again when I knew she'd be free and asked her to explain the situation to him and go to bat for my situation. Well she did and sent him a few emails, to which he responded like only a true asshole would and I had to barely keep myself from smashing something in my store when I heard it.

In his mind giving that kiosk to me an employee of GameStop who had made his case, spoken to Sony, spoken to CORPORATE and had RISKED HIS JOB by even daring to call his district manager was completely inconsequential and unimportant. Now I'm not saying that I'm anybody important at my job, in fact as an entry level employee I'm far from it. But, did he really need to reply in his email saying that because he feared that somehow even though it had been completely approved his job would be in jeopardy by giving away that PS2 kiosk to me HE WAS NOT IN ANY WAY GOING TO LET ME HAVE IT AND HAD ALREADY DESTROYED AND JUNKED THE KIOSK?!

And for that reason, I give up.

Fuck you GameStop, fuck you and your shitty half-assed employees, the damn bureaucracy formed by the big wig managers, your crappy service and your gutless disgusting monopoly on the industry. But most of all I hate you for ruining what was probably a once in a lifetime chance for me to own what was once one my biggest dreams as a gamer but now, I just give up.

I'm surprised and pissed off because the company's own policy is to give away the kiosk to the first person who asks for it at the end of it's useful retail life. The only thing they want is for the PS2, Xbox, Gamecube etc.... console to be removed from the kiosk and then it's free to be given away.

What that asshole manager did was add fuel on the fire by adding insult to injury and it only makes me hate him more because of it.

We trash dive occasionally behind the Gamestops here. Most of the time its old games that somebody just wants to get rid of money or not. Sadly, nothing worthwhile for me.
