OH YEAH, this whole time I've been yammering in here, and I forgot, it's the damn 23rd... my download is ready! WOOT!

[edit]

gayness, it's like this exe file autodownloader crap... had to reboot into windows just to download it and have to sit here for an hour waiting for it to complete.

grrr, why couldn't they just serve it up as a freakin' iso!?

I feel so naked over here in Windows... I will admit though, my sound card sounds a LOT better over here. Cause auzentech actually releases fucking drivers for windows. GRRRRRRRRR.

[edit2]

Got my new legite Windows 7 Pro running now. Gonna play with it a bit (see how Media Center treats my hauppauge card notably) then pass the hell out.

yeah!

[edit3]

nope same issue with the tv tuner... stupid crap... me bitch out MS later.

There is a power toy for windows to enable spaces, however I have no idea if it works in vista or 7. I haven't bothered. It's something that seriously needs to be made into windows. On my linux and mac systems I use desktops/spaces all the time. It's so convenient for multitasking.

I can't download my copy of Windows 7 Pro. The servers are down. Been down since yesterday.

PS is that Compiz you are running your linux box duct?

You sure? If you're checking Windows info, its going to tell you about the OS, not the processor. Use something like SiW to check. For SiW, just download the free standalone one, run it, then click CPU info on the left. It will tell you whether your processor is 64 bit or not at teh very top on the right. Its an otherwise useful too too.

Okay, it's 64 bits, and I have 32-bit Vista installed. But I ordered the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade. Does that give me an option to install 32-bit and 64-bit? If not, I'm gonna have to download it. x86 Windows 7 means 32-bit right?

That's right. x86 means 32-bit. I don't know if the Premium upgrade will have dual install options, however, if you're trying to move from 32-bit to 64-bit you will have to do a format.

As far as I know only Home Premium and Starter don't have both version on the same disc. Professional and Ultimate do however.

I guess Microsoft assume that people buying Home Premium or Starter don't need x64 or even know what it does or even it's benefits.

However you can get X64 versions of Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate.

Is anybody else puzzled that they've called Home Premium 'premium'? what's premium about it if there is no 'basic' version. Surely they should just be called Starter, Home, Professional and Ultimate?

Shouldn't they just have Home and Pro. Then bring back Plus! packs for those who want more?

Actually there is a 'Starter' and 'Home Basic' version.
