Windows 7

Post by Jrecee »

We're about 24 hours from windows 7 coming out. Anybody upgrading or getting a new computer?

I've been needing a new computer for some time. I have an imac with final cut but I prefer using vegas for video editing. But my 4.5 year old emachines isn't cutting it anymore. I've been avoiding a new computer for a while, but I think now is the time. Or at least soon.

Has anybody here tried windows 7? Experiences? Is it really as good as I'm hearing, or is that just in comparison to vista?

Either way I've got to upgrade someday, is it good enough to go for it on day 1, or should I wait for the first sp?

I'm going to go play with it on thursday, but there's only so much you can learn from a demo at bestbuy. You can't really find out all the changes/flaws until you start replicating your usual routine. . .

I've got an ISO from work I need to try out on my old laptop. I want to see if W7 Home is gimped compared to Pro in networking and advanced setting the same way XP Home was compared to Pro. Also to see if I like it better than Vista.

Yeah, I have the beta and now RC of 7 installed in a virtual box on my main rig. It's not bad, but honesty, I haven't used it all that much.

To make a long story short, I plan to get 7 sooner rather than later. About 90% of my reason though is to get a 64bit OS. I was planning to get it as soon as it was released, but I still haven't made up my mind on a RAID array or if I wanna just use Ghost.

I'd really like to get it. I use a macbook pro, but spend a huge amount of time in windows. My main worry is that Apple will do their best to not release updated drivers for everything they can.

I need to upgrade our main family computer, but it'll have to wait until I have cash.

Plus we have XP on our machine, why would I want 7?

Since I'm already on Vista Ultimate 64 and it's working fine I see no reason to upgrade.

I'm still using a computer that was built in 2001, lol. There's no way in hell that 7 would be able to run on this junk. But that being said, The day I buy a new computer is probably several weeks after this one dies (I'll be able to use my work laptop while I find a good deal).

I pre-ordered Windows 7 Home Premium in July since it was like 50$ for a limited time only. I got an email yesterday saying that it has been shipped. Can't wait to install it.

I will probably upgrade when/if I have the money. Vista is serving me fine on my 4 year old laptop right now.
