Gaming and Marriage. Has it caused issues?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

T&P man. I was around at time of OP, but don't recall reading it. Hope all is well. DQ11 is on my backlog to reach this year, will be thinking of your family & friends when I boot it up.

Hey Vant3c, just want to say thanks for sharing your story and how everything unfolded over the years. I was not as active on the forum during the time your original thread was posted, so I totally missed it before. Sorry to hear about everything you went through and your ex-wife's passing. I'm glad that you've moved forward in your life though and found someone that accepts you and your hobby.

Gaming also gave me comfort and joy through a difficult time in my life from 2017 through 2019 when my father's health was in decline and his eventual passing. I especially have good memories of playing through Secret of Mana and Earthbound then, and will always cherish those games for helping me to escape a bit and giving me some joy during that time.

My partner likes gaming too and supports my hobbies, so I'm very lucky in that regard. She's mostly into modern stuff and has a Switch, so we usually play some Mario Kart when we hang out on the weekends. She has other hobbies like DJ'ing and some arts and crafts. For the most part, we try to spend time together and enjoy each other's company on the weekends and participate in hobbies during the week after work. She's also fine with setting aside a room for a game room when we live together, so I hope we're able to get a place with enough space and do that eventually.

Thank you for reading my update. I'm glad to hear that you feel the same way about gaming and the comfort it can provide during those hard times in life. It's also nice to find a person that you can share your passions with and they like to partake in it as well. I wish you and yours the best and life long happiness.

Thank you for that. DQ 11 is an amazing game and a game that I will always look back on when I was dealing with this moment in my life. You will enjoy it but make sure you get the DQ 11 S version with all the extra story content and so on. I need to get that and do another play through with all that extra gameplay.

@Vant3c - I was here back in 2015. I should have posted wishing you good luck. I’m sorry I didn’t. I’m always reluctant to give people I don’t know advice.

I’m just some other random internet dude but I’m glad you pulled through. Really sounds like you did everything you could have and that you really were not at fault. Glad you’ve managed to move on.

Thanks for coming back to offer closure for the many who had lots of wisdom to share with you seven years ago hahaha. Keep on gaming.

No worries, dude. I understand what you mean and at the time I would have felt the same way if it was the other shoe. Thank you for the kind words as well.
