I'm actually thinking of getting the Japanese Mega Drive Mini, based on the incredible additions to that lineup. Yu Yu Hakusho was kind of the one that really caught my attention, even though I beat it on flash cart, and will potentially own it physically at some point, anyway. The Kandzume collection, The Hybrid Front, and Musha Aleste might have sold me on it. I already have Rockman Mega World, Story of Thor, Rent a Hero, and of course they added Madou Monogatari I to this thing. So no real benefits there, although I guess I could compare with the actual games, if I wanted to. Really, I have no need for it, like all the Mini consoles, since I have most of these games, and an Everdrive for the ones I don't own, but this is probably the only one that I would actually want to bother to support. Some of the games they put on the Japanese one especially just blow my mind.

Edit: As far as the Mickey games go, in the other regions, I have a feeling they added both of them since Castle of Illusion is the more iconic game, but World of Illusion has multiplayer. I imagine they're trying to get a good mix of multiplayer games in. The Japanese version seems like it might only have World of Illusion, but they also seem to be favoring a lot of the rare games with heavy premiums for the Japanese market, so that might be why it made the cut at all. I kind of feel like Mickey Mania would have been the better choice, overall, but I'm sort of surprised they bothered to deal with the Disney licensing, in the first place.

Worth noting Sonic 2 was announced at different times for JPN vs US. This means we still have hope for MUSHA stateside.

I can't believe there's only 10 games left to announce and so many awesome games I hope they include. My dream announcements are:

Herzog Zwei
Sonic 3 & Knuckles (yeah, I'm cheating)
Shining Force II
Ristar
Rocket Knight Adventures
Pulseman
Thunder Force IV
Monster World IV
Alien Soldier
MUSHA

So, I have a feeling that these are not going to make it in, at least for the Japanese model. Apparently in Japan they asked for people to complete surveys on what to include, and out of those two series, the original Shining Force, and Sonic 2 were the ones that made the cut. Should they include more games from those two series? Maybe, but there are tons of collections that already have them, so I'd kind of rather see some of the deeper cuts make it onto these things, to show people who aren't as familiar with the library what they might have missed.

I actually kind of agree with the inclusion of the first Shining Force over Shining Force II, also, though. I'm not a huge Shining Force fan, but I was watching speedruns of the first two games not that long ago, and came away feeling like the first game is actually a little bit better.

These would all be great to see added, especially RKA. I feel like, for whatever reason, Konami might not want to allow it, though, or maybe Sega only wanted to deal with getting the more recognizable Konami franchises for the device, and RKA is going to get left out. Even though it's one of the best games on the console, and one of the best action platformers of that generation. MUSHA is already on the Japanese model, anyway, but I feel like there's a pretty good chance it shows up in other regions too.

Rocket Knight Adventure is a classic.

I’d like to see one more beat em up added - maybe Alien Storm or Separation Anxiety.

The lineup is much better than I expected though it still has some usual suspects that I wouldn't mind not seeing. I'm really excited for the final ten.

Agree. I would have no objection to them subbing out Alex Kidd, Altered Beast, Comix Zone, Ecco, and Sonic Spinball.

Oh good shout! Dammit, Sega can we please have more games? There's too many that need to be on this thing.

Even though I love the diverse selection, the deeper cuts and third-party support, it really is about time games like Alex Kidd, Altered Beast and Sonic Spinball stopped appearing in Genesis collections. They're all mediocre (at best!) games.
