There's a really cool interview I've seen with Yoko Shimomura, composer for Street Fighter II, in which she talks about being in another country and hearing kids playing Street Fighter II repeat some of the Japanese dialog. She was really moved by this.
It might be here, in the Diggin' In the Carts episode on SFII. But I may have read it somewhere. Regardless, this series -- all of it -- is worth watching.

Ken makes sense, he was trained in Japanese martial arts so it is likely that he was taught those moves in Japanese which is why he says that. Its the same reason that when I do judo I count in Japanese and say things like Osoto Gari as opposed to Major outer leg sweep.sevin0seven wrote:..she also says "spinning bird kick" in English.BoneSnapDeez wrote:But... but... she is Chinese!
Another example: Ken is american, but speaks Japanese when he says "Hadoken" and "Shoryuken"...hmmm
What always baffled me was what Axel in streets of rage 2 says when he does is flaming uppercut?? Grasshopper?? Grandpappa? Anyone have any ideas? In streets of rage 3 he appears to be saying burn knuckle or bare knuckle(which would make sense give the game is called bare knuckle in japan), even though it is clearer it does not sound nearly as cool.

Nobody can tell me what Tiny Cuts is? I keep clicking this thread haha.

I'm too lazy to hook up my DC and actually witness the line, but I found a clip on YouTube where Kasumi is about to fight the Tengu and she says:
"Kono tatakae ni wa zettai ni katsu" which I'm pretty sure literally means "this fight is one I will absolutely win".
It sounds like that must be the "tiny cuts" bit!
