What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Nice. Just saw Lords of Salem is also streaming for free on Tubi. Going to check that one out also.

I forgot about 31. Not sure why, but I dig weird game show plots in movies. I will eventually see it because of that. Maybe save for October movie thread...

Forgot she was the goth roommate in Urban Legend. That's a guilty pleasure teen scream for me. Seems to be when she got back into horror before fully embracing the "scream queen" path.

She really added to the Zombie Halloween "remakes" & Stake Land. Great in those. I can recommend them although H2 catches a lot of flack. Stake Land is one of my favorite under the radar horror movies. Hatchet 2 & 3 still on my list, but heard good things.

Really @ Jumanji!? The trailer looked so bad to me.

the characters are move likeable, better action/adventure, good mix of comedy, story flows better. of course the rock of kevin hart haters probably don't like it but i think their shtick works well with what charcters they are portraying. even jack black was funny again.

noiseredux wrote:AND FINALLY, can someone tell me about Star Wars: Rebels? I always skipped that movie because I don't know, I wasn't all that interested in the animated SW stuff for whatever reason. But I'm wondering how cannon it is to the actual films, and how and where it'd fit it on the chronological timeline of the series? And like, SHOULD I watch it? Like really, does it add anything substantial to the cannon? (I had a couple friends tell me yes, but these are my friends who will see each of the movies like 6 times in the theater, so they may be biased...).

Not sure this is totally the right thread since Rebels is a TV show, but I'll add my two cents. I think it all depends on where you are in terms of Star Wars fandom. Does Rebels fill in any critical gaps in the canon? Meh, probably not. Does it have plenty of cameos, and (non-pandering) fanservice? Definitely. It takes place in between the end of the prequel trilogy (Revenge of the Sith) and roughly five years before(?) the beginning of the original trilogy. So it's roughly adjacent to Rogue One in the timeline relative to theatrical releases. I think the most crucial question to ask is did you watch and/or enjoy The Clone Wars series? If yes, then I think you'd find a lot to enjoy in Rebels. In fact one of the things that I enjoyed moreso than The Clone Wars is that Rebels has a more clearly defined story/series arc. Whereas The Clone Wars was more episodic, Rebels has an inertia to the story arc that carries throughout the series. Also one of the most 'rewarding' character appearances in Rebels (IMO) is a character from The Clone Wars, so again YMMV depending on how you felt about the earlier series. Rebels does have an interesting historical relevance though, due to the fact that Rebels was the first Star Wars property to be released after the Disney acquisition. Due to that fact I think (and I knew) a lot of fanboys that were absolutely ready to hate on Star Wars: Rebels. But somehow against all odds I think it managed to win over most detractors. I think that's probably another good indicator of its quality.

I believe the TV series kicked off with a movie. Same characters.

OH! Okay, that's actually a nice segue. So The Clone Wars was a series, BUT it was introduced by means of a full theatrical release ... also called Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It's ... okay. I feel like the series really picked up in quality as it went along (to the point where I feel like the series goes a long way towards redeeming some of the inherent flaws in the prequel era). The movie is serviceable, and it does introduce an important main character from the series, but the villian is total balls.. Yuck. So if you plan to continue on with the series, the movie is worth a watch. If not ... well I'd say it's the most skippable of the theatrical releases.

Yes, it (and in fact the entire Clone Wars series) slots into the canon between Episodes II and III. (In other words The Clone Wars was not retroactively dropped from the canon as part of the Disney acquisition.)
