Agreed. A must see.noiseredux wrote:It's not good, it is excellent. I'm a huge fan of the original and I feel like they did a sequel the right way. Totally see it.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Well, that's a relief. I'm moving it up on my list of priorities. I'll have to think about how to best watch it, though. I don't really want to reactivate my Netflix account, but I guess that's an option.

$5.99 to rent in HD off Google Play. Red Box kiosk is cheaper if you're looking for price over convenience.pierrot wrote:Well, that's a relief. I'm moving it up on my list of priorities. I was thinking... Is BR2049 on Netflix!? Forget they still have the disc options.
Still on my to watch list as well.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Blade Runner 2049 was one of the best movies I've seen in a long while. Admittedly, it hugely appeals to my personal taste, but it is just real damn good.
I remember Dsh finding out I'd not seen the original Blade Runner some years back, and his utter shock at that made me immediately go watch it. Easily one of my favorite films now.
I'm currently in the process of watching nearly every Marvel movie for the first time, since my friend was rewatching them leading up to Infinity War. So far we've knocked out Captain America, and The Avengers (My wife and I had seen the others leading up to those). CA was fairly decent, mostly enjoyed it, but Avengers was the movie that actually got me excited to make this journey through all these. Surprisingly enjoyable movie for me.

dun, are you doing a full chronological MCU run?
OMG you should go crazy and intermingle at least the First Class & beyond X-Men (w/ Deadpool, Logan) films too haha.

Yeah, we are pretty much going for a full run, ending with Black Panther.
Ironically, though I missed all of the MCU films, I've seen most of the X-men movies (1-3, Wolverine Origins, First Class, and Logan. I think we missed one), as well as Deadpool.
We also watched both Guardians movies already, but we might just rewatch those, as I really enjoyed them. But as far as post-Avengers MCU stuff that isn't those, we haven't seen a single film.

Offhand, Black Panther characters in the comics have more in terms of actual -powers- and not just tech. T'Challa himself, less so, though one aspect of him being a top notch tracker is being able to track spiritual energy (he's generally more akin to Marvel's Batman, thinking way ahead of everyone). Shuri does take up the Black Panther mantle (multiple times AFAIK) and ends up dead, then revived with supernatural abilities.pierrot wrote:I get the feeling, from some light reading on the Black Panther lore, that Shuri isn't quite the same super genius character in the comics, though--at least, I found that the heart shaped herb was also supposed to give T'Challa, and other iterations of the Black Panther, superlative cognition, which wasn't indicated in the movie at all. Maybe someone who knows a bit more could elucidate, but it seemed like maybe they transposed T'Challa's genius onto Shuri's character--which I am totally cool with. I also read that Shuri becomes the Black Panther in the comic universe, so I am 100% ready for the movie sequel with Shuri as the main character. (Be good for something, and green light it, Disney.)
The MCU version of her seems to borrow some from Riri Williams.
It was a solid movie, though I do tend to enjoy the Marvel films that aren't huge ensembles more, so that helped.

The 'soft reboot' of X-Men series would be First Class, Days Of Future Past, Deadpool, Apocalypse, and Logan. I like the films prior to First Class, but I love the stuff starting w/ First Class.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Thor Ragnarok is basically an honorary Guardians movie in my mind. Not that any of the characters are the same, mind you, but it's just similarly fun.

Ugh I still haven't seen Ragnarok. Must be on Blu-ray soon. So bummed I never got to the theater for that one. Last year had too many movies haha.
