Anybody Using PlayStation Vue Streaming TV?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Not a very helpful post within the context of the thread. Anyone can cancel cable.

What apps on the Roku are you using en lieu of cable? Sling TV + OTA, PS Vue, no TV, Hulu, Netflix, CW, CBS All Access, YouTube, etc?

While I would rather a la carte my channels, the pricks who own them make that in enough cases utterly impossible. That said, given what I would pay to get hulu and the other accesses needed to match up + vue/sling/dtv now -- I wouldn't save anything given what I put myself onto. There's enough to be said about cord cutting that you can find other means to still rip a clear deal such as the directTV setup I ended up with. $115/mo(+tax) and that has like 300 channels with full dvr and up to 4 receivers, 50meg net and a land line.

Dropped direct 3 years ago. Fuck them bitches lol. I have a amped antenna getting me 52 channels on 4 tv's (ok half are Christian/info), hulu, netflix and sling for sports. My pc is also on my tv to get any other sports shit I want with a Google of reddit streams ????. So 45 bucks a month and not having to call direct to argue my mother fucking 175 bill every month that somehow came to 225. Oh and my Internet is comcast without caps, so fuck em lol.

@Tanooki, yeah I'll fall right around $111 pre-tax for my 250 mbps Comcast and PS Vue. That sounds about right. Approaching that $200+ mark many homes are in is what I'm trying to avoid.

@stickem, the OTA set up is nice. I'm interested in it from a hobbyist point of view. I have a small indoor antenna with RCA DVR, but I have to rotate the antenna. I'm in the middle of two sets of towers. That's a bummer. When Vue added live local channels, it pushed me over the edge. Check out Vue compared to Slings prices with that Sports add on. I think you'll pay the same and get more more.

Well, I officially made the leap over to PS Vue TV this weekend, canceled satellite, and using streaming IPTV OTT only.

In the Houston market, they now have all 4 major local channels live. This is important because my location requires a serious OTA setup for locals via antenna. Plus I can record locals on Vue (no need for OTA + TiVo). My Dish bill also went back up to $93.40. I would have call and threaten to cancel to get it down to $83. I just called and ended service instead.

During football season I'll be using the Core package which is $44.99, and then I'll move down a tier to Access for $39.99 the remainder of the year (no ESPN 2, ESPN U, or SEC Network). There are some serious channels in there for $45. I'm very impressed.

Only drawback so far is the 28 day DVR versus unlimited days on local storage. If I've had a recording for over month though, odds are I'm not going to watch it anyway.

My annual savings will be between $540 to $615 depending on exactly how taxes come out (if any, depends on market) and making sure I bump down tiers after football for a bit more savings. No contract and the ability to freely change channel line ups is awesome. I cut my annual TV cost in half while still keeping some service year around.

I'm using Chromecast to stream the live TV, on demand, & cloud DVR. I will eventually pick up an Amazon Fire TV box as well to have a more typical, remote experience. I was surprised the PC/browser side isn't more developed. Chrome & Firefox gave me issues. The stream ran rock solid in Edge which is what was recommended. I already own Chromecasts so no added equipment costs to start up and no carrier box rental fees :).

I've always thought IPTV was about 80% there but there's been significant leaps recently. Overall great move for our family.

Okay, got my first bill. Standard 8.25% Texas sales tax, no FCC fees. Can now look at official numbers.

If I use Core during football (Sept - Jan) & Access during non football months, my savings compared to my Dish 120 package are:
$612.27 annually

That is my plan. To any one curious who wouldn't want to change tiers, if I used Core year around, my savings would still be $536.50.

I dont need Access tier in February as the Super Bowl comes on NBC :). The only non sports channel I'd lose (that I watch) outside of football season with the Core pack is IFC. While I enjoy IFC, it's not worth $5 a month to me.

The only channel as a whole on Vue I'll miss from Dish to Vue is History. That is not worth $612 to me though. I can find a ton of great documentaries on YouTube, PBS, BBC, & Netflix to fill that gap. They're slowing becoming a reality channel anyway.

I can recommend trying the PS Vue trial. Good stuff!
