What was the last movie you've seen?

I'm a big fan of The Martian. No spoilers here... it is typical Ridley Scott greatness with one big exception... it is very funny. It does this fairly often without taking away from the overall serious tone. I'm not sure I've seen a movie balance that so well actually. It never feels forced. The humor adds some well needed levity to otherwise very "Ridley Scott" plot, atmosphere, pockets of action & character development.

I may like The Martian better than Interstellar but to be honest, it is almost two entirely different genres.

I'll be hitting up some Netflix movies this weekend. Will update you guys.

The Martian is the best sort of book adaptation. It's both very true to the source material while still being a practical adaptation to the different medium. I highly recommend reading the book if you liked the movie (I saw the movie first).

Xeogred, you definitely want to get on board The Martian. It's basically Apollo 13 for Mars and everything is extremely well researched (again, by the original author).

question for those of you familiar with the DC Universe animated movies: So I have seen a couple of them, but I'm curious if there's any benefit to attempting to actually watch them in the order they were released? Is there much continuity, or are they generally stand-alone?

@noise I've been really on the fence about this one. On one hand I don't trust Shyamalan to make a compelling movie anymore, on the other I trust McAvoy to act his ass off.

From the ones I watched, I think most of them are stand alone.

But that's coming from someone who hasn't watched all of them, so....

dude. When I saw the trailer I was like "nope. Shyamalan has officially lost it." But it turns out that... I can't even tell you anything. You should see it. And then we can talk.

And yes, McAvoy acts his ass off in it.
