What RPG are you playing right now?
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Revisited Dead Island. I also scored South Park: The Stick of Truth in the recent sale on Xbox Live (alongside de Blob 2 and Alice: Madness Returns) and have racked up around 4-5 hours so far.

Fired up Kingdom of Amalur on the PC. Got it for about the price of a bus fare with all the DLC. I'm about five hours in and I'm really enjoying it. Combat remains my highlight. Love the atmosphere. The character development doesn't seem too difficult to understand so far. I think, so far, they devs did a good job. Shame about the drama surrounding it.

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Well, I'm back after quite a bit of a RPG hiatus. I am now able to emulating retro titles on the go (Android) with save states which will help me actually get through some RPGs on my backlog with short free time!
I am currently playing Dragon Warrior IV.
DQV is one of my all time favorite games, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to play IV. I am excited about trying out the unique chapter aspect, but a little concerned about essentially playing 5 mini RPGs. We'll see!
Anyway, I have a question. I've looked through a few FAQs and for the life of me, can't find out what the "S" is for below. It seems to match my level, but I've seen it change twice IIRC, it moved to "DE" when I died. Maybe status? But I don't recall it changing when poisoned. I could be wrong there.
This is the mini screen below in the bottom right. Not the full stat list of vitality, strength, agility, etc list.

This is where my RPG writeup would help. It's not five mini-RPGs. Chapters 1-4 are relatively short, just to set up your crew, and the final chapter is pretty much a full-length game. You're in for some good times.
The "S" stands for your class. Ragnar is a Soldier, hence the "S". I think it's the number that gets swapped out, though, not the class, when you die.

NES RPG write up is one of the better article ideas IMO. Mostly bc I'd continually reference it

4 starting chapters & 1 longer is more up my alley. The best part is playing with the characters you spent so much time upgrading!
Okay, thanks, got it. So it's "Soldier Level x"? That's interesting.

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Finally got this:

Booted it up to "test" it but got sucked back in. Now several hours in and almost done with the Forest. This will be my fourth time through some iteration of the game.
Wish the "Plus" version wasn't so expensive. I may pick it up one day if I find an affordable copy.

Yeah that's the version I have too. The Plus version's minimal extras don't justify its overly high price IMO.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

One of my fave RPGs last gen. So underrated.

I sunk hundreds of hours into this game on the Dreamcast and GCN version back in the day. Last year I really wanted to get back into it but the cost of obtaining the hardware and the game was a major turnoff. I went and emulated it on Dolphin and runs great. Even boosted the resolution to about 3x native and the textures, and game for that matter, are crystal clear!

It really is underrated. About 15 hours in and still enjoying the hell out of it. The combat is super fun. All the special effects are great and the environment is enjoyable. I think it's a more serious, better playing, and better looking version of Fable. Maybe not the right comparison but either way, if anyone else was on the fence, just do it.

Have you tried Blue Burst? I did a full single-player campaign last year: episodes I, II, and IV. Took me around 72 hours, if I recall. You can get it as a free download and there are several private servers available.
