Let's appreciate that US DC launch referenced for a moment.
Marked those titles I remember being very excited for. I ended up with Sonic Adventure and NFL 2K. Didn't disappoint!

Re: Console launch games in hindsight
Ultimately the Switch falls in the middle of amount of titles. I'd probably think quality wise too. Not to say the WiiU didn't have quite a few, but the problem is that names are one thing, and shoddy ports of 1-2+ years old games are another so there are factors at play.
N64 laughably launched with little to nothing but stuff trickled out after. SNES could be said the same thing, but if you check the dates a lot of stuff people still look up to fired off by the end of 1991 into/through Christmas.

In my opinion, it`s more quality than quantity that matters. After all, everybody knows that there will eventually be more games coming, but to capture the launch hype you need a killer app of a Halo or Mario calibre.
If it really matters in the long run -as in sales or measurement of a console success - I`m not sure though. It`s just bit of fun (or aggro, depending on your Fanboi Level ;) when a new toy appears.
Switch definitely hit it out of the park with Zelda - who cares if there`s more stuff at launch when you get to play one of the best games ever? :D
