Geeze... too good & there will be a ton in circulation soon. That makes me scared to buy any DC title over $20 :/.

Even more the reason for me to get a USB GDROM or GDEMU...

I guess you can tell a fake by how much data the disc can hold popping in your pc?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your PC even reads the thing, it's not a GD-ROM and thus fake.

Nah your pc could read them. Lots of games have extra sound clips, computer backgrounds and screen savers on them...but no game data.

Huh, you prompted me to research. TIL that GD-ROMs have a CD section for all that stuff.

Well maybe I'm wrong. I just popped in a dreamcast game in and it only read the amount used on the disc not the total capacity like it usually reads with cd's or dvd's.

I'll play along as now I can't remember. I'm placing both Mr Driller and Jet Grind Radio into the drive. Before I find out, I probably remember wrong? But, I think it would fire off that warning by default it is meant for Sega Dreamcast, but if you navigate there it should show the disc is loaded, and if there is a made readable area for extras you'll find it.

Mr Driller shows
3 files ABSTRACT, BIBLIOGR, and COPYRIGH 0, 0, and 1KB, but a disc check shows 2.19MB in use.

Jet Grind Radio
Same 3 files but all 1KB, and a 4th WARNING_ENG.DA 863KB, disc check shows 2.50MB

The header of the disc is just JET_GRIND_RADIO and Windows reports it as a CDFS file system. Using un-hide shows nothing additional in windows explorer. Loaded but not, fairly well hidden without the right tools to extract or write elsewhere (like old disc juggler which I recall using like 15 years ago.)

Speaking of, was testing more from that lot last night out. Got hung up just screwing around in the tutorial area of Jet Grind Radio. That game still looks good because of the art style, nice music as well. One thing I never did get in that area though was when it said go down the stairs and find the sewer/subway entrance...never could see one. I just spun around for awhile trying to get a bit more comfortable then saw it was after midnight and killed it. Still need to test out Code Veronica, Rayman2 and R2R Boxing still before leaving that dude feedback. -- Also fired up THPS2, kind of tempted to keep that. Hate to admit it, never played it in 3D before, just isometric GBA.

I really enjoy Code Veronica. This freaking blew me away when I first rented it. If you hang in there & beat it, you'll be impressed overall. Just get through that dang poisonous killer moth section... not lying and have no idea how they fit into the story.

I'll have to check my save file, but I beat it with 10+ ink ribbons left. DC street cred?

I never finished it back in the day, but it is the one Resident Evil game that I got the farthest in. The old DC version has a stupid design flaw in it that screwed me so I never finished it. I don't recall exactly what I did, but you need the rocket launcher for that big grunt(boss) in the back of that cargo plane at the end of disc 1. You're supposed to shoot him in the face and stun the guy, then use the cargo crate switch and shove him out. Somehow I was able to leave the rocket launcher in a locker before the plane, and the one on the plane I think is too small to extract it. I had the game saved so I was trapped and was in no way going to lose all that work to start over so I stopped...mad as hell about it.

I was just trying it out, got my ass chewed to pieces in that prison long house near the start of the game, bunch of them popped through a window and I was already hurt unused to the controls and got chummed -- game went back to the opening so I flipped it off. I'll do it eventually, just was nice having it in that bundle.

That one and RE2 are the only pair I've ever really tolerated of the sold style and got into, yet the only one until now I currently do own is that screwball GBC title and it's no easier. I did forget about the ribbons, damn how I hate the ribbons. And unlike back then there's no more using the DC+browser for save file hacks and cheats either, not that I did it on RECV but I did boost some other titles after I hit a point of boredom to just goof off. THis time though I would, big ammo stockpile for certain. ;)

By the way I put that order in for those looking to likely be 1:1 copies of those Dreamcast games I mentioned. When they arrive I'll get a good look at the workmanship on them against the discs I do own and look for differences. I'm definitely curious about it, but mainly really wanted the stuff and the benefits outweighed the costs/lack of quality I'd have in it doing it myself.

One more thing if anyone can refresh my memory about my old companies game Ready 2 Rumble Boxing (1 not 2.) Launch game, like Hydro Thunder, browser 1.0, and Blue Stinger I know it can have problems booting if you get a bad factory disc. Was R2R also known to have audio problems? The one I have the first time in I let the movie run through and the audio started to glitch a little and then dropped out progressively(music not sfx.)

I actually got stuck there also in RE CV but my save point didn't screw me over. I could've sworn it was on my GCN port playthrough so I'm not sure that was ever fully fixed. Same area, but IIRC the crate wasn't out of the plane after due to a glitch, but the boss was dead so it didn't trigger the next area. Had to reboot/reload save.

I have the DC ports of RE2&3. Both look really nice. They're the PC ports with some 3D model improvements IIRC.

For those titles with issues (NFL Blitz 2000, Hydro Thunder, R2RB... may be others I am missing) you want the copy with a "hot new" logo on the cover. This indicates is the patched version with the audio fixed. I have the original, non patched, Blitz and the audio will cut out randomly.
