Anyone here have experience with this Retro-Bit part??


It's a replacement for the $50-100 OEM Sega VGA Cable. Amazon has a 4/5 rating on it. Seems like a solid cheap alternative possibly, then you'd just need the Mini VGA to HDMI Converter 1080P VGA2HDMI Adapter here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-VGA-to-HDM ... 1930938578 on ebay and I think this would/should do nicely on a modern LED TV.

I'd like to know about that cable and box as well. A hell of alot cheaper than the ones on the bay.

I saw one movie on youtube of someone using the box on their huge LCD TV with Shenmue and it appeared to boot up pillarboxed and very crisp but the guy wasn't doing a very good job mostly rattling on about parts and his candles under the TV for some dumb reason.

His video was for that box you mentioned. I just linked the cable. That cable + the vga to hdmi adapter I found between the two should get a DC into a modern TV for around $20.

I haven't ever experienced that specific Retro-Bit part, but if it's anything like every other Retro-Bit thing that I've bought, then it's low quality. Board line pure garbage.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised, I know they mostly make crap to be blunt about it.

I know there's a LOT of third party ones I'm finding on ebay and through google. Kuro, DreamVGA and others out there.

I see a problem so I'll probably back off going to this level of output because quite a few games natively won't use the box and just not run. I don't want to be making a bunch of ISOs of games just for a sharper image.

Guess it's back to poking around and seeing if I can find a game or two on ebay to get started with through there, maybe dumb luck will find a like new/v good quality lot of a few titles to lessen the blow.

Yes, dude, I have one! It's absolutely brilliant. I've had one for a good while and it's worked perfectly, with perfect picture quality.

Don't have a HDMI converter as my TV has VGA input, so I can't comment on that.

Edit: On second thoughts, it might not be the retro-bit one I have. I'll have to check. I remember it was a third party one off Ebay though. Edit 2: Yup, I just checked my old emails and it was unbranded third party I went for in the end. It's good though.

Hmm happen to have the old sales link with the name of the item you did end up grabbing as it probably being ebay should be up there still.

I'm considering it, but I'd have to cord swap depending on games I think unless there's a work around without burning discs.

You can force the games into VGA by unplugging the AV video cable at a certain point & plugging in the VGA cable.
