Central Texas Racketboy Meetup Revival Thread

Post by Flake »

Consider this the interest check phase.

About 7 years ago, the Central Texas Racketboy group put together some great meet ups / excuses to eat Mexican food and drink beer. The movement faded out after awhile.

Any of the San Antonio, H-Town, or Austin members interested in a get together?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I'd be interested, but the when and where would be an issue. When, mostly because of school. Where, because I have a lot of trouble finding my way around the big cities, even with GPS.

I missed a Houston movie & pinball night couple years back. Wish I could've made it out. Where would be the big one for me.

Kiddo, prego wife, crazy dog, & full time job keep me running wild.

I'd definitely be down. A month or two advanced notice is all I really require. I'd love for it to be in Houston but Austin is obviously more central. If Houston works out there are several cool places I could see us checking out together. Off the top of my head hear are some cool spots that come to mind.

Joystix - Free play arcade nights the first and last Friday of every month
Karbach or 8th Wonder - Beer and food with a good amount of outdoor space to hang out.
Kung Fu - Bar with an arcade (same story as the Austin location)
GameBros or Gameover - Retro gaming stores to visit.
My House - 1700+Games across 20 consoles, an MVS arcade and decent size space for 4-6 guys to chill out
Chuck e Cheese - Incase we feel like getting weird with it and challenging 6 year olds at some light gun games. (ProTip: Beer is available for big kids over 21)
"The librarian does not rue the library, nor the curator fear the exhibits. Rather they revel in their potential. And that is the beauty of a big backlog; pure potential." - Exhuminator
