I picked up a NES Mini and a Boo Amiibo today. Neither is a game but I'm happy to have both.

Picked up a complete special edition of Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love for PS2! The resale store in Ann Arbor had it priced as if it was just a complete normal copy, not a special edition, so I got a pretty good price on it :3

Good day, used the 40% off at half price and got the CIB Golden Sun down from $40, and then the GB Micro at the other was $80. Very good deal, and now I have a spare micro I can carry not having to worry about bashing my really clean boxed up one on the go. The guide under there was a buck.

Nice. I managed to score a Micro a little while back for super-cheap, but I never use it.

Also, Golden Sun is awesome. I should do a playthrough again one of these days. Why chip away at that backlog, right?

Have you ever played the DS one? I've had it since it came out and have tried on two separate occasions to get through it, but just always lose interest :/

To be fair, being a bit slow and draggy is a problem the other two games have to at least a little extent as well.

The DS one unlike GBA was panned for being pretty boring and terrible compared to the earlier two which is why another hadn't been made. When it was out it came out for $40 and within months was a $20 game and Nintendo rarely price drops stuff, super rarely fast. It got put out to pasture like Elite Beat Agents and a few others did in that generation.

And no doubt on the backlog. I've had those 2 before so I'm not adding to the misery, just wanted them back. If I can get the NP Advance magazine that covers Golden Sun again I'll pull it out and replay it because it was flawed in that a few of the djinni had no in game hints where they hid on the map so you had to bumble into them which is a shame. I'm mostly just thrilled about the micro as now my pretty one is a backup. Funny thing the black plate on this was better than the one in the other that's complete so I swapped them.

Tomorrow I have that 50% off coupon still, there was house of the dead pinball up the street, can say no for $15, but not for $7.50 so I'll go snap it up if I'm motivated to go that way.

Dark Dawn is solid. It's not as good as the two GBA entries, but I still ended up enjoying it. If the GBA games are 8.5 or 9.0/10, then Dark Dawn is a 7.5 or 8.0. It's still worth playing if you don't have something more amazing, or are craving some Golden Sun. I realize it drags a bit for some folks in all its entries, but excessive text is not usually something that bothers me.

That reminds me, of course, that I need to play through Trails in the Sky SC...

Dark Dawn is the only one I've played. Overall it was a solid game. The puzzles were fun and the summon battle animations taking up both screens were awesome!

I had a few gripes...

I remember having to press "A" a lot more than necessary is battles. You chose moves for the whole party, Character 1 does assigned attacked, now to start character two attack, press A. Same thing 2 times over after. Why? Just have all 4 attacks/spells play out. Also, no attack all option. So if you want to do a baseline attack for all 4 party memebers: A, A, A, A. Then again during battle animation: A, A, A, A. Many JRPGS, this would be a one button option. That got old after 30 hours...

I like the game otherwise, but this bugged me so much, it prompted me to make a youtube video about it going into the last boss fight. In a 2 minute video, I bet I hit A 25 times :/

The only thing that pissed me off in Golden Sun was their horrible throw back of the 80s where you target an enemy and it dies a hit before that character -- they just stand there and decide to do nothing. Horrible design choice all around.

I ended up going back and got pinball of the dead GBA today and then was shocked to see something sticking out in the boardgame area of all places. And early 80s original Milton Bradley Centipede game! I opened it up and to my surprise, it was brand new basically. About 2/3 of the pieces fell off the plastic tree in there, but the rest had not, and all the stickers and cardboard circular bits with the piece art are still on their boards after all these years. I think they had like $16 on it, but at 1/2 off coupon day it was 9 with tax (and the pinball game was $7.50 at 1/2 off too, ran a coupon for each.)

I don't recall if I brought it up, but last weekend i did score an excellent Wavebird controller with the receiver for $20 which pleased me greatly too. Now I'm more motivated to use my GB Player these days. And I found DS game Contact too for like $15 I think.
