There was no PAL release of Mario RPG. What!? Is getting NTSC games/systems to work on your 220v power and PAL 50Hz TVs any easier than it is for us to do the opposite? Pain. Luckily the Japanese 100v to our 110v is a seamless.

I might have a decent sale coming up soon, moving a few bigger items & Games I don't see myself getting to soon. Definitely been the year of trimming the fat.

A couple more September pickups.

SNES
Power Rangers Zeo Battle Racers C - offered $6 shipped and was accepted - down to 9 games wanted

In all seriousness, though, I actually don't go that often anymore. I did today because my roommate dragged me to the grocery store with him and it's in the same strip mall, but most of my games come from Amazon these days.
I went today. I bought nothing, but my daughter was given some free Star Wars legos and some Yo-kai Watch thing. Ah, the perks of being cute.

Yup, most RPGs prior to PS1 era didn't reach Europe. Our first main series Final Fantasy was VII. Our first main series Dragon Quest was 8. We didn't get Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Soul Blazer, either Lufia, or either of the Lunar games until their later ports in some cases, or ever in others.

We got all the Shining Force games, all the Phantasy Star games, Final Fantasy Adventure (which was called Mystic Quest), Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (which was called Mystic Quest Legend) and Secret of Mana.

In PAL regions, if you liked RPGs, you had a Sega console, or spent a small fortune on imports.

In answer to the difficulty of playing the games here - it varies. It's probably a lot easier than the other way - we just have to deal with the usual slowdown and borders as most modern TVs support NTSC colour space, whereas you guys have to deal with the colour issues aswell as the extra lines (you're losing 96 of those 576 lines on a NTSC TV, but only if the game was optimised for PAL).

On modern TVs, playing the games (on a PAL system) is no problem once you have the adapter, but you still have to deal with the issues of the PAL system. You can sometimes just adjust the TV zoom to remove the stupid borders. The system will slow the game down though, to 50hz, unless you have a modded console. Playing a US system is easy enough too - basically every modern TV can do 60hz or higher (PAL 60 is a thing for Gamecube era games, PAL resolution at 60hz) so you just have to buy a step down adapter to stop the console being fried when you plug it in.

Personally, I just use a Retron5. It'll play the games in 60hz with no borders. I do plan to mod my SNES one day though, as it'd be nice to play the games the proper way.

Not as odd as the games look on my shelf. The US SNES carts are hideous - big and ugly and square and even the colour is nasty.

Europe and Japan know what's up. The Super Famicom carts on my SNES shelf fit in nicely with the others.

Not even being sarcastic, I legit think this way. Same reason I think the NES is better than the Famicom even though the Famicom and its carts aesthetically look 100x better.

Saddens me about that but we had a pretty console

USA 1 EU 1

I know you'll respond with the whole 50hz thing. That's why I modded mine to 60hz :P

Why was Nintendo obsessed with purple for a bit. Started with the US SNES, right?

Interesting info on importing to PAL territories. No RGB SCART here on our TVs... :(

Yea but the states had S-video on most tv's so it's basically the same as scart.

And the official colour/color named by Nintendo for the US SNES controllers is lavender.
