Yo noise, how much did it cost you to make a little steam box. Would you recommend that or just doing a steam link? My PC and TV are right next to each other, so I'm curious what you think might be best. Do you have any experience with Steam Links? I'd rather do that if I can port a good native resolution to my TV.

I built the Steambox because I had 99% of the parts lying around already and I just felt like building something to relax. SteamOS is alright, but it doesn't support a big percentage of games out of the box, so you'll end up doing a lot of streaming. With that in mind, you might as well get a Steamlink for $35 right now as it's cheap and will save you effort.

I've since replaced that Steambox with Nvidia's Shield TV which is a bit pricey but absolutely awesome with its combination of Android games, media apps, and the ability to stream PC games (if you have an Nvidia card). I love it.

That said, you can just as easily plug your PC into the TV's HDMI, couldn't you? If you're already set up close enough to do so then why not just grab an HDMI cable and set your PC to just mirror its primary display? Then you don't have to worry about getting a good streaming signal.

Bookmarked! Thanks. I've been straight laptoping for 10 years now. Thinking of setting up a Chromebox as a workstation setup.

I had a clean desk setup in college for my laptop/study area, but that's been a bit. We don't have one at the current house we built in 2014.
