I spend about 5 or so Cenas a week.
No online gaming really killed my frequent playing habits.
There are times where I sit down and just marathon the shit out of a game though and end up spending like 20 hours in a single week beating it.

6-10 sounds about right. A "marathon" session for me is like 3 hours straight on a Saturday night. Doesn't happen that often anymore.

When you finally get around to Demon's Souls you and your wife should trade off on deaths.Exhuminator wrote:@prfsnl_gmr
When my wife and I first started dating 6 years ago, she had zero interest in gaming. I of course tried to get her into co-op. After many failed attempts at finding a game she'd like, it turned out I was being presumptuous about her taste. I thought she'd enjoy casual fluffy stuff. I was dead wrong. Turned out she loves dark and violent games. The darker and more violent the better. Once I figured that out, it's been all good co-op'ing ever since.

Based on the six categories that received votes, here's the results. Overall most of the forum plays games 6-10 hours a week.

No kids for me but I probably fall a little short of 6-10 hours many weeks. During the summer I don't have much else going on though so it probably jumps higher than 10 hours during those months.

Unless I'm addicted to a RPG which its been a bit (Fire Emblem Awakening)... 6 to 10. Try for 1 hour a night during week. Go over a bit some nights, then play some on weekends.
I also work 40 hours, commute 45 mins to work one way, wife, kiddo, house/lawn duties.
If I'd taken this during college lol, 30 hours weekly.

Re: How many hours a week do you play video games (on averag
This is a really hard question to answer because my habits change so much.
Sometimes I go practically weeks or months at a time without touching games at all. I just have no interest at all, and get preoccupied by other other things (bike riding, tennis, programming, socializing, vacations, etc).
Other times, though, I binge pretty hard. I can easily put in 4-5 hours a night, with maybe 7-10 hour sessions on the weekend. This happens especially if I get really immersed in a long, winding RPG.
The thing is though, I do watch a lot of sporting events as well. I usually watch them and play video games at the same time, so it's sort of multi-tasking. If I didn't play games while sports were on I would play considerably less.
I find it easy to play games while watching sports, because there's so much down time and inactivity. There are things like commercial breaks, time between plays, in-game timeuots, etc... Even if I'm looking at a video game while live action is ongoing, I can still hear the commentators, so it's a lot like a radio broadcast. I don't watch TV shows or movies while playing games though, I feel like those require more attention to detail.

Last year I binged watched the first two seasons of Matlock whilst simultaneously grinding through SMT: Soul Hackers. It's doable with the right kind of game.SonicTheHedgehog wrote:I don't watch TV shows or movies while playing games though, I feel like those require more attention to detail.

Yeah, I normally don't watch anything while I play games, but I binged like 5 hours of Classic Game Room while I was grinding on Shin Megami Tensei IV a few years ago. Did the same thing on Final Fantasy III (I was playing on DS). When I was playing Bravely Default, though, I was in college delivering pizza for Hungry Howie's, so I would set it to the left-hand-only control scheme and use whatever power kills everything instantly (Obliterate, I think it was called), and grind while I drove around Boone delivering pizza. Unsafe? Yes. Badass? Very. Time efficient? More so than anything I've ever done.Exhuminator wrote:Last year I binged watched the first two seasons of Matlock whilst simultaneously grinding through SMT: Soul Hackers. Yeah, it can work. I've watched plenty of shows while grinding something or other in FFXI. Usually though, it's only when doing something high on repetition and low on challenge. I have movies and thing that rewatch later and realize I don't remember half of due to the game becoming more involving while they were on, so I tend to keep that in mind when picking the show/movie. I don't tend to watch anything I want to fully appreciate.Exhuminator wrote:Last year I binged watched the first two seasons of Matlock whilst simultaneously grinding through SMT: Soul Hackers.
