No-No-No. Though a PVM CRT is a very good SD Tube most (or all?) are older technology with a curved glass tube. The WEGA is the last great CRT with a flat tube and oh so crystal clear and bright no matter what angle you view it from. It has newer chips inside to digitally enhance the picture quality vs the older PVMs with analog controls; some WEGAs are even HD 1080i tubes.KalessinDB wrote:Bought a 330lb rated push cart to move the 36" wega. Broke it. Lashed it to the dolly I had for moving my Neo cabinet. Against all odds, it worked! So happy I'll never move that TV again.
I honestly kinda wanna get rid of it (via Craigslist "come get it" method probably) once I find a reasonable sized PVM. The framemeister is fantastic, honestly. All I need for day to day use. But you need light gun love sometimes.
Model Number? You can pull the PDF manual from Sony ESupport.
THIS. The CRT is the best for non HD video as in older consoles and many non HD TV channels. Plus if that 36" WEGA is an HD Tube you gain ALL resolutions crystal clear from 480i-720P-1080i. NO UPSCALE "Pixels" stretch.Jagosaurus wrote:My neighbor was just over & was surprised how good the picture looked on my "new" (to me) 27" CRT in the garage. I explained to him how CRTs handle blacks & multiple resolutions well (vs upscaling).
No worries on the heavy weight of a CRT. Once set its not like the TV will need too be moved again. Oooh, all the inputs of last generation flat tubes that one will not find on new LEDs.
