I've played and beaten around twenty "spooky" games so far, all in the 8 and 16 bit era. Too much to talk about, but last night I told some friends about Double Switch, which is as much fun as the game itself.
"So I beat Double Switch"
-Huh?
"It's a fmv game for the sega cd which is like Night Trap, but a bit different. It stars Corey Haim and Debbie from the band Blondie. It's directed by the same person who directed the movie Pet Sematary, and the soundtrack is by the guy who wrote Blinded Me With Science"
-You need a new hobby.
____________
I'd rather spend free horror time on games rather than movies, but I do want to watch CRITTERS as it was my joint when I was a kid. I also have a copy of THE AUDITION, but once you've seen it...
Going to a three mile corn maze tonight with a group of friends. We'll be arriving between 9-10pm, so the only light we'll have be provided via flashlight, or a lantern. If I can find a cost effective kerosene lantern (preferably Coleman) I'm definitely purchasing one just for this occasion.

Re: noiseredux Presents THE MONTH OF HORROR (2015) (remake)

Zombie 5: Killing Birds
Hey, this movie stars Trucky, Bad Bitty, Dirty D, Lacy, JB, Biggie Shorty, and Robert Vaughn.
...well, ok, only Robert Vaughn.
Killing Birds starts off with the harrowing tale of a Vietnam vet returning home to find his wife in bed with another man, causing him to go on a murderous rampage throughout the house until only his baby son is left Just then, a falcon tears out one of his eyes and blinds his other one. There's bloodshed, there's screaming, there's eye trauma that would make Lucio Fulci stand up and applaud in the audience. And then the movie becomes an after school special.
I tell you, what could be more compelling than following up a bunch of psycho murders with college kids talking about a potentially extinct woodpecker in Louisiana to the tune of elevator music? If you said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, then you have a lot in common with the tag team of producers and directors Joe D'Amato and Claudio Lattanzi. Because that is exactly what you get for the next 45 minutes: college students looking for woodpeckers in the backwoods of Louisiana and stumbling upon an abandoned house, which they then decide to spend the night in because, well, they're just the kind of kids that go to LSU.
Anyway, after about an hour into this movie, finally zombies show up and kill people. Only they're like ghosts and not zombies because they kind of just appear busting through stuff to take folks from behind or from above, but then they vanish and nobody really gets too good of a look at them or really tries to fight back effectively because they're all like super strong or something. I don't know the rules on these things. The important thing is that they shamble and are dead, which I suppose is enough to get them a "Me Too" label attached so folks who liked John Romero and Lucio Fulci will bother to watch this one. Hey, what can I say, it's a loose series.
Eventually the zombies vanish and then Robert Vaughn pops up and says they only go after people who show fear, just like wasps. So...zombie humanoid ghost wasps. I guess folks thought that was too long a title so they went with Killing Birds instead, despite birds not causing the deaths of anyone in this movie at all. I think this is a mistake, because I totally would have put money down to see Zombie 5: Killing Zombie Humanoid Ghost Wasps. Wouldn't you? Hell, you know you have a problem when the freaking poster is more graphic than your movie!
If you haven't noticed yet, I think this movie is pretty bad. In the pantheon of films bearing the name Zombi that I have seen, this is definitely the worst, though I feel I ought to add an addendum that says I haven't gotten to watch Zombie 4: After Death yet. Still, judging by the trailer, After Death looks a lot better than Killing Birds does. The biggest flaw is that it's boring, though its close second and third are that the characters are dumb and the actors are mostly terrible...with the exception of Robert Vaughn. Come on, it's Robert Vaughn!

Talk to me once you have sat through Contamination 7, bud.
Re: noiseredux Presents THE MONTH OF HORROR (2015) (remake)
Yeah, yet another of Joe D'Amato's finest. Anthropophagus, the Ator movies, Absurd, Porno Holocaust, multiple Emanuelle films...he has quite the resume.noiseredux wrote:Talk to me once you have sat through Contamination 7, bud.

Thinking of this, I really want to play Silent Hill 1 on Halloween. I recall I left a fully answerable thread in the dust on this. I never even answered the guy's original question. I'd appreciate some advice at this point if someone has some experience with using shaders (I don't usually use them). All I explained is how to get a game running smoothly on ePSXe @ 1080P.

That's the extent of my ability.
I don't know how to do shaders.
Can you add new shaders to Pete's plugins?

Re: noiseredux Presents THE MONTH OF HORROR (2015) (remake)
Yeah, you just set "Shader Effects" to whichever type of shader file it is (Pete's uses two types, can't remember atm) and then click the "..." button and point it to the file. Then set the appropriate shader level. Some can be used at any level, others have recommendations for what level to set it at.

I'm currently playing through the original F.E.A.R. on my youtube channel actually. Wasn't even intentional, I just felt like playing it and later realized that it was October. It's not all that scary, but it's a lot of fun, and it managed to spookify me a couple times.
Other than that, uh, I'm not sure. I don't really liked being scared, though I enjoy scary atmosphere's if that makes sense.
I do plan on watching 2001: A Space Odyssey soon. Does that kinda count?

Hosting a TEEN WOLF TOO-SEDAY next week. It's more about TEEN WOLF, but thought I'd throw Bateman a bone.
T-shirts and terrible jeans will be required for entry, guests will receive dog whistles (thank you Tractor Trailer Supply) and heavy petting will be welcomed. Unfortunately I do not own neither a basketball goal* nor a mini-van for van surfing, but we'll work on some other silly activities and eats.
*Good friends with a next door neighbor who owns one of those basketball goals that uses sand as a "base". Hopefully I can borrow it. *Insert all your base jokes here* Also thinking about visiting Michael's and making an "Obnoxious" t-shirt.

Questions for you guys, noiseredux wrote:yup! I finally convinced my wife to watch Bucket Of Blood but the audio was so horrible that it was impossible to follow the dialogue. Bummer.TSTR wrote:Those Mill Creek packs of flicks are great for having a bunch of stuff on hand, but the prints are so godawful you can barely see what's happening. At least that was the case when I watched Silent Night, Bloody Night. Sort of an early giallo feel to that one, imo.
So when you see a DVD with 4+ horror movies on it is the picture & sound typically highly compressed? I've been tempted to buy these "collections" but was worried about the dip in quality.
So these films in the public domain, are they legally available for download? This could be awesome. Or is just free or low cost for production companies to put them out in their collections?

Terror Vision looks awesome!
I watched Sleepy Hollow (1999) and fell asleep towards the end :/. I've seen it before and can now confirm it falls in that weird camp of, I don't dislike it... but I don't necessarily enjoy it. Fun fact, last movie released on Laser Disc!

My path of Halloween themed movies and horror thus far!
