Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
However, word on the street is that it's going to be closer to Rolling Thunder than Contra. No idea about the other versions, but they look more like Contra than Rolling Thunder to me.
Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
You might be surprised. The PCE actually has a pretty robust currently out or in-progress homebrew scene. Also there's a lot of translation activity on the platform as well right now.MrPopo wrote:Plus, the DC seems to get somewhat regular new releases from hobbyists. The PCE not so much.
Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
You know, I always wondered why the PCE never had a good Rolling Thunder or Rolling Thunder 2 port. Namco didn't exactly avoid the platform.o.pwuaioc wrote:However, word on the street is that it's going to be closer to Rolling Thunder than Contra. Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
Did anyone download the promo demo for dreamcast from the Kickstarter site? I'm curious if that gives you a good impression and feel for the game.
Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
There's nothing playable in that demo, it's just (mostly) the same promotional art you can see on the KS page. Somebody recorded the whole thing. It's exactly like it says in the description "You'll be able to see some cool promotional art, running on the real hardware.", nothing more.
Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
They didn't to any development work prior to the kickstarter, because the success or failure of the kickstarter determined if they were even able to secure the license.
Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
Not long now, it will soon be funded
Although for some reason, the funding seems to have ground to a halt... It was climbing up at a decent pace over the last day and now it's kinda died with 16 hours to go. Pretty weird. I'm sure I'll wake up to find that it gained some more funding in the last couple of hours. Hopefully we reach that first stretch goal at least, even though it's not much.
It would have been nice to get the Wii U, PS4, XBOne (and even SNES/SFC) ports etc, but I don't really care, because, well... Yay Dreamcast! Yay PC-Engine!

Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
so I never did jump on the Kickstarter... is there going to be a way for me to secure a Dreamcast copy now?
Re: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
Yes, but you price will probably make you feel unclean afterwards.noiseredux wrote:so I never did jump on the Kickstarter... is there going to be a way for me to secure a Dreamcast copy now?
