Sounds weird - but try turning on the system without a controller in the port and plug one in when it has already booted up. It will slow down in that location even if you are flying through the air off the ramp. Doesn't happen on the GCN version.

It sounds like it could be the lid switch too. I have one system with a bad lid switch and when I have to use it, I do this: Try putting an object that is heavy enough to keep the lid down without closing it all the way (i.e. the lid doesn't click closed) and see if you can play any longer like that...

I am having the same issue -

I found that if I don't plug in a controller until after the game boots, the controllers work fine. Even unplugging and re-plugging in a controller will work for me. Have you tried this?

I would still like to get a permanent fix for this.
