Nintendo Stencil Border Idea

If you are looking for a creative way to add a little gaming touch to your gaming room walls without being too over-the-top, why don’t you take a cue from Nintendo’s own elevator designers.

Yes, I found this cool post at Flickr from The Sailer Man…
“These were around the top of the elevator in the Nintendo World Store. I thought it was a nice little touch to make the place a little more… Nintendoish. ”

This could easily be re-created by tracing your favorite game characters/sprites to develop a silhouette. You can then create a stencil of a few and then paint the characters around the border of your room while using a color that is either slightly lighter or darker than your main wall color.

What do you think of this idea? Maybe we should start collecting images that make good silhouettes.

Check out Sega’s Media FTP site for some really high quality sega art that you could use for stencils. Some of those pictures are humongous, and would be perfect for this. I got one of Sonic the Hedgehog from there.
