I wouldn't fool with anything other than the standard cable since it doesn't have a super high resolution output...just my two cents.

hmm i was thinking of getting it because my tv is starting to get real blurry to the point its really hard to read text, I have an old monitor that i keep next to the tv to play my 360, and soon to be dreamcast once i get a vga box for it. Is there like an all in one vga box?

It won't look any better than S-Video (best case scenario)
It just converts the signal -- only useful if you only have a VGA monitor to play it on.

The Dreamcast (and I think the 360) are the only consoles to support native VGA.

If it is anything like the ones Ive used in the past, the brands elude me, only certain games are supported. I know on the cube that mostly the progressive scan ones work, and even those are spotty sometimes.

I have this, it's not that good, everything on it looks fuzzy, a/v cables give out the worst clarity.

Signal converters suck ass. I have one that will take any s-video input and convert it to vga. The quality is dreadful. There just isn't enough data in the signal to do a decent job without upscaling. You would be better off getting a stand-alone a/v upscaler. At least then when/if you upgrade to a HDTV you can then upscale everything on the TV. (btw if you're going to get one, make sure it has vga out. or see if your monitor can handle DVI)
